Nice car sir! I have a 2019 GS, 2LT same color...it had those same red heritage stripes on it too...I took them off 😏 . You also have the stage 3 rear spoiler...nice touch. Mine is an A8 though

Thanks for the comment. Mine is a 1LT and the only thing I miss is the automatic steering wheel and moving the seat back. I used to have a 3LT C6 and I thought I would miss the HUD and other features but I don't at all. I have considered removing the hood stripes but now they have grown on me and I like them. My car makes me smile. What can I say? When I stop smiling when I drive it, I will sell it.

@@markerhein YW. I had a 1LT because I missed those features mentioned (my SUV has those). I was fortunate enough to find a similar 2LT with the same mileage. The only things different were the stripes (mentioned) and the red calipers (the other one had the black calipers).

@@mrcjjr mine has black calipers, and I think it’s looks better. I don’t know what the deal is with red calipers and green calipers, etc.. Corvette is way harder to get in and out of than a SUV so having the seat roll back automatically and get the steering wheel out of the way really makes a difference. That’s the one thing about my Corvette that just I don’t like the pain in the ass to get in and out of .

I apologize. I don’t know which year it was but it was a C2 for sure. I do absolutely recall that it was a stick shift. It was yellow and it had a 427 in it. Vinegar works faster if you leave it out in the hot sun. Baking soda neutralizes the acid. Citric acid is probably better. There's also electrolytic rust removal too if you like this Mr. Wizard stuff. There they say to use washing soda but baking soda works.

Hey that's not fair to call it a poser. That is a bone stock variation. I didn't put Z06 badges on it. Anybody can see it is a stock Grand Sport. If you know what you're looking at, you know it doesn't have the Z06 engine or brakes. I think it is the sweet spot in performance, styling and economy. I don't need all those ponies and the brakes are nearly as good. Don't be a hater. It's all good.

@@markerhein I said “factory” poser. You didnt do it ….GM did it. 2010-19 Grand Sport is just a base car with the Z06 look. Its for the guys that want the Z06 look but not the power (and C7 I cant even say price as there was some more expensive than a Z06) . Which it needs as its a drivers race with a A10 mustang GT and gets smacked up by a GT500 on the track. Grand sport should have had its own look and 500 hp. Its just a GM cash grab/parts bin car

In a nutshell..... isn't the Grand Sport C7 simply a Z06 with the Stingray's Base Engine (LT1) ?
@markerhein
@markerhein Ай бұрын
Yes, that is a good way of putting it except the brakes discs are made of steel instead of some sort of composite material that drives the price of the Z06 brakes way up to something like $1500 per corner. I think the Grand Sport is really the sweet spot taking the best from both worlds. The Z51 and Stingray look tame next to the Z06 or Grand Sport and the Z06 engine and brakes are not needed for a guy like me. So, I would buy a Grand Sport again.

@@markerhein I agree. The GS is my fav as well. No sense in wasting cash on an engine that you can't use and brakes that you don't need. The GS C7 was the best value Vette. Unfortunately I don't think GM will make the same mistake with the C8, as everyone wants the C8 Z06 body..... just not the price tag, or even the overly elaborate engine for the most part.

Recently bought a '14 Z51 vert w/mag ride, 65k miles. Looking at the car overall one glaring material condition is the seat leather is completely cracked and needs replacement. Other than that the car is holding up very well. I drive the piss out of it and absolutely love it! I'm sure a ticket is on the way by the end of the summer but that's the cost of admission if you are enjoying your car. Cornering is amazing, sticks like glue. And yes, it is a manual (I bought it for me not my mother).

Congratulations on your new-to-you 2017 GS. The C7 GSs are amazing Vettes. It appears that Stage 2 spoiler attachments were installed in place of the stock Stage 1. The Stage 2 increased down force, but also increased drag. I do not recommend that you drive in the rain with the Cup 2 tires as you will have no traction and can be very squirrelly to handle. Good luck.

@@markerhein : I don’t really know. I generally use a utility knife with a fresh blade, but recently purchased one of those mini-circular cutters with a 3” round blade. I thought it would make a clean, straight cut, but it kicked up such a dust storm that I stopped. I’ve also used a drywall jab saw a few times, but generally I don’t unless I know that there aren’t any wires or pipes in the wall. All of my work involves rehabbing some old rentals, which are often full of unpleasant surprises, lol.

@@foxotcw30 fair enough, but he was about to cut several 4" holes for a circular box... if that is for any of the remodeler boxes or the newer led lights that fit inside that size hole, it requires a certain exactness to be successful. At variable speed the hole saw can control the dust by going slower... and there was no mention of the circular tool used by drywallers for decades that again scribes a hole of any size (up to 6"), in a matter of seconds and costs less than 20 dollars. I'm not faulting the guy but he is an amateur teaching fellow amateurs.
