Absolute failure as a parent. And before you jump down my throat “children are difficult!” Yeah…. I’m aware. Sometimes they are so difficult that there’s nothing you can do to get them to calm down, especially regarding a new experience like being on an airplane. But you have an obligation to everyone around you to at least make an effort to acknowledge this behavior and try to correct it. I don’t hear any parent doing anything. Even if you know it won’t work, you need to be decent and at least verbally express that you are trying your best to stop this behavior in order to be courteous to others around you. if I actually heard a parent here saying “you stop this right now or you don’t get your new dinosaur toy”, and the tantrum continued…. I’d be ok with it. Not your fault anymore, you tried, and I appreciate it. it would be obnoxious, but I would know that the parent at least acknowledged the situation and made an effort to stop it. In this situation, I would order a beer (I hate beer, don’t drink beer) just to accidentally stumble in the aisle and pour it all over that mother’s head… on “accident”. “Hey sorry there was turbulence my bad.” Shame. Terrible awful parent. No excuse. I was a difficult kid, but my mother always made an effort to signal to other people around us that she was doing her best to stop my bad behavior. This woman should have been thrown off the plane at altitude. Keep the kid, he’s just a kid. Ditch the b word that rhymes with Dutch. He wasn’t flying with his father. His father would have done something, he was flying with a housewife who doesn’t work because hubby makes bank, so her only job is to raise the children, and she’s completely failing at it. Seriously, whoever is married to that woman? You don’t want her as a mother to your son, you make enough money, you can do better. Horrible awful woman. No excuse. Fathers put their foot down, and so do most mothers! I’m sorry I didn’t mean to sound sexist, but with all this talk of women needing to be more “traditional” wives I think it’s relevant. Somewhere in his upbringing, this young man has learned not to respect women. I guarantee if his father looked him in the face and said “you better stop that right now mister. Look at me. You’re not a baby and you won’t act like one. And you’re gonna stop this now”. It would work. It worked when my own mother said that to me, but I was raised in a household, where respecting women was important: this kid needs to be in child protective services. I Can pretty much come up with an accurate FBI profile on his parents just regarding this incident. Angry Dad, domineering, makes all the decisions. Doting wife, likely married for money, good looking (but quickly fading, in the next 10 years husband will divorce for a younger more new model), poor kid caught in the crossfire. Mom feels powerless because she knows she is so she doesn’t try to discipline her kid, and she will likely overdose on prescription medication in the next 10 years. Loveless marriage, child she can’t relate to because of trauma in the past involving a father or uncle…. Give it ten years she’s taken her own life in a hotel room because she’s been stockpiling her xanax Rx for just this occasion. Good! The kid might actually have a future in foster care, he doesn’t have a future with these two assholes

I flew to Africa every flight was quiet till we got African parents that dont discipline their kids like we do. They just let them throw fits and scream for hours. Just shushing them or ingoring them cause they are just baby's even if they old enough to know better

I have to admit sometimes I've been tempted internally very frequently I have literally put my fingers in my ears right in front of the parents truly I can't help it I have very sensitive hearing. I once through myself on the ground kicking my legs and rolling back and forth and yelling you don't have to eat your peas.......... If you don't want to............ To get the attention of a ridiculous child.

As a pilot - Kids cry on planes, it can be painful for smaller ears. It's called science and that's why I fly myself to places and you people pay to be taken everywhere.

What a jerk, does it occur to this person that he was also once an infant, and if on a plane stressed and absorbing the ill will of deformed adults who think the world should literally be about them as opposed to expecting a guy this old to reorient somewhat his life goals to supporting the next generation who will have to inherit the mess we made of the world. Old people like to say the younger generation is selfish and crap and doesn’t know right from wrong and so on but this old guy is a testament to the old as selfish, shameless and jerks who think the world is about them - and I guess babies should just shut up or die? This guy really thinks the world is supposed to be about him and his comfort? Funny. This guy is so amazingly infantile and selfish - does he not realize that as he gets older there will be new people in the world who start out as babies? He’s like, “do you how crazy the world is? Babies are allowed to cry?” Well, this man baby has no excuse, what a silly silly narcissist Again, to him and all his ilk, which I includes most of MAGA, you’re just a selfish thoughtless jerk.

Let me tell you, I am planning a family cruise. I have been so nervous about my child crying on the plane and bothering people. However a road trip would take days and be too hard on the child. That is.....until I got online and read a bunch of comments with grown ass adults calling babies names for crying. They also claim that if the child cries, it must be due to bad parenting.....even in the case of infants. 😂 Thank you so much for being such garbage people, because you freed me of my anxiety. When i read these comments, I realized "who" I was so worried about upsetting.... horrible people who wouldn't care if they upset me at all. Garbage individuals who would bully a mother and her child. The Karenest of the Karens. That being said, I will do everything in my power to keep my baby calm and happy.....for her sake. But you?? I will take great pleasure from knowing that you lost your little mind over hearing my baby cry. I hope it ruins your flight. I hope it drives you nuts. Last, I hope nobody screams in my babies face because if they do, we are probably landing because that will not go unpunished. ❤❤❤❤

Plane rides can be frightening and exhausting for very young children. Their ears hurt and they dont understand why. The child is already upset enough without adults acting like assholes. If someone screamed in my babies face (and these are babies or toddler typically) I'm probably going to jail.

This is how kids act when they have no fear of punishment from their parents. No dad maybe? Scream crying should never be allowed to continue because it will make people hate the kid, and the worst thing you can do as a parent is set your child up to be disliked by others.

On a long haul flight a kid had screamed off and on for a couple of hours, no one said a word to it, not the crew nor the parents. During a lull after a brief stoppage up it started again. At this point Id had it. And promised myself if the kid screams just one more time, this about four hours in, Id scream as loud as I can. The kid obliged. And, at the top of my lungs I emitted the most blood curdling extended scream Id ever heard in all my life. Iwas in a 30 something row, the whole plane fell silent with fear. It mustve sounded like someones guts were being cut out. Well I tell you after everyone looked around, I realised no one had a clue it was me. Apart from those sharing my row.the look of fear on the kids face was worth the cost of the fare. He clammed shut, the parent looked terrified. What happened between the two after that I dont know. But the kid never made a sound the rest of the flight.

Every time I see stuff like this, I wonder if people don’t realize that air travel is literally just expensive public transportation. It’s no different than your local buses and trains. Would you get on those and have the same expectations? No. I go on a flight with the same expectation I have if I get on a Greyhound bus; this is going to be horrible and I just need to tough it out and get to my destination. If you want a tranquil peace and quiet flight buy a first class ticket. Imagine riding in economy and getting mad that you have to listen to other peoples noise lmao.
