some people find cemeteries to be scary, weird places but i've always found them to be calm, relaxing, and peaceful places

Bleach will ruin any headstone. I use Wet and Forget. It is made for Granite, Marble and Stone. Removes only Mold, Mildew, Moss and the dirt on top.

Back then daughters got their names from mom first,then her sisters and the boys were after dad and then uncles. If they ran out of names, husbands sisters got roped in.

If you want to find really old headstones, go to Egglington cemetery in New Jersey. They have some really old ones that havent been touched in centuries. The care taker tries to keep up with it but its still an active cemetery. So i can understand it being hard to get to the older section of the cemetery. Most of my family is there as well. I will not be as we started new roots in another state.

Thats so satisfying to watch the stone change from mostly green to mostly off white. I know the chemicals used take time to be truely effective, but still remarkable work.

I used to walk through a very old church cemetery near my house just checking out old head stones. It was very interesting to see some of them hand made with cement with the names scratched in with a stick or something like that. It was slso interesting to see the life span of a lot of people in the 1800's and especially the children. There was quite a bit of children back then compared to now

Next time I would spray with water first and then I would get D2 solution and spray right on that growth let it sit for 5 or 10 minutes. Then I would try to scrape it off and then scrub it. It will come off just like butter. It would be 10 times easier and it also would kill the growth for the next 5 maybe 8 years. I wish I could show you the the one from 1792 I cleaned last year. Yours came out real nice 😊
@DontBeScaredExploringShorts2 ай бұрын
Thank You for the tips! I used Wet and Forget. I thought it would be easier than it was. Turns out I was not prepared. 🤣 1792 is really old! So far the only ones that I have seen from the 1700s were broken. 😒
@Out-to-Pastor2 ай бұрын
@DontBeScaredExploringShorts wet&forget is just as good and a cost saver compared to D/2. I prefer D/2 as it's what Arlington National cemetery, Gettysburg VA, and other D.C. monuments are designated safe to use on.The only difference is D/2 is ready to spray, wet&forget has to be diluted.
