The indians literally did this to the people who were there prior.

The Indians had more repeating rifles than the soldiers. It was very easy to win the battle.

At the time, I think our leaders believed it was the only way to get Japan to "stand down." Was there another way? I guess we'll never know. Such a devastating moment in our history.❤

Fort Sumter was, obviously, a tragic war crime. I would never excuse such treatment. But I gotta ask: How were Rebel prisoners treated by the Federal Government, or the Union Army? I have no agenda, I'm genuinely curious. Any similar stories regarding captured Southern soldiers?

Im looking at the map at 14:40 Reno line hold from 1518 to 1533 which mean 15 minutes. Custer was sighted north east at 1513, 18 minutes BEFORE Reno line crumbled at 1533. It is hard to believe that Custer (uphill) didnt saw Reno's hasty retreat. This is the key of the whole battle. Did Custer heard or saw anything about Reno? Still, he pursued with original plan by that isolating himself and let Reno isolated as well. To his defence, Custer at that time still didnt knew anything regarding true size of the village.

Nice to hear the account of a battle my ancestor possibly participated. Captain John Peter Kneeskern Company B 115th New York Volunteers. No journals of that dear man survived the length of time so I like to think that he did but I do not know specifically. Maybe order of battle roster will show him there.

The United States government has not abided by any treaties it has made with the Indians. Even the U.S. military admitted that at the time.

Most likely it was a boiler explosion or coal bunker fire that detonated the magazine. That was very common in those days.

Custer respected the Native Americans and was friends with Bloody Knife, who he saw as a friend. Grant sent him on a mission to remove the native Americans from the area. He was following orders. I believe his strategy was to hold the women and children as hostages to keep the warriors at bay. This strategy did work in the past, but this time, it did not.

Once the natives got set it was a 15-20 minute rout. Some may have stood but not out of bravery. There was nowhere to go and comrades were wounded. “Toss out a handful of corn you’d get better lines.” Benteen
