Is this from a master tape or just isolate and then remix? Is this from a studio album?

Great rendition, but why were the French horns not in there like on the record? That was one of the greatest parts on the original recording. Before anyone tells me, I know Mason Williams did it originally. I have the 45. Just saying the French horn part should have been left in. Kinda disappointed.

He was part of the wrecking crew. A group of studio musicians who did a lot of top 40 hits of the 60’s and 70’s.

God but I miss Johnny, no late nighter has been able to touch what he did. What laughter and joy you gave this young (now old) man for so many decades. And helped me go to sleep with a smile on my face.

In the style of Roger Miller...that is... I know that the producers of the movie had a hard time acquiring the rights to Sam the Sham and the Pharoahs hit song 'Little Red Riding Hood' so they had Quincy Jones create the music to 'FOUL OWL (ON THE PROWL)" specifically for the movie. The lyrics to Foul Owl were written by Alan & Marilyn Bergman who also wrote the lyrics to 'Bowlegged Polly', 'In the Heat of the Night' and 'It sure is Groovy'. So I imagine that Bowlegged Polly was in a similar situation. The next best thing to Roger Miller back in the day was probably Glen Campbell. I guess you couldn't fault Roger or Sam for withholding their songs from being associated with such a racially charged movie as 'In the Heat of the Night'. They would've risked their careers literally 'going south'.

They sounded good together...too bad she was a complete train wreck and that relationship was almost the end of him. Thank God Glen survived and married Kim in 1982!

Yes and Glen was no angel either... they just fitted together in a way that assured their mutual destruction. Things were bad for both of them, but I hesitate to judge others that are exposed to us because they are responsible for our entertainment, whereas we can enjoy anonimity fir our sins!
@maureensullivan501918 күн бұрын
@@chrisgmurray3622 You are absolutely right! I should be careful not to judge...I read Glen's autobiography and he would admit that it was mutual.

@@maureensullivan5019 I just love Glen's music; as a guitarist I can appreciate his awesome technique, but his beautiful voice never ceases to amaze me. What he does is so simpke and standard on the surface, but deeper inside he has some magic transcendent ability to reach into your heart and soul. I was so sad to lose him because his last two or three albums were, I feel ,his best... he seemed to be closing in on some of his best work, with producers that finally got him!

@@chrisgmurray3622 Oh my gosh...Your reply gave me goosebumps! "The transcendent ability to reach into your heart and soul"...You precisely described my feelings about and experience of Glen and his music. He was such a huge part of my music landscape growing up but like you said...it was his later recordings that made me fall in love with him. It's so nice to connect with someone who treasures Glen in the same way. 💖🌟

I’m in my 70’s. I love Glen, I also love John Denver. More recently I’m practically speechless hearing a heavy metal band doing a cover of Simon and Garfunkel’s “Sound of Silence”. I can’t leave any links here, but do a KZfaq search for DISTURBED CONAN O’BRIAN. Then read the comments and see how so many commenters say they are also elderly, and blown away with this performance. The band ‘Disturbed’ has over a Billion KZfaq views of their original video.
