Yes, Streamline reads sales history from your system and creates demand forecasts. Then these forecasts are used for generating purchase recommendations. On every step, you can add your expertise to the project and make forecasts and recommendations more reasonable to your business.

Demand plan has a historical forecast, takes into account impact of relevant relational factors from the market, socio-economic environment etc., adds any special events planned by marketing & sales, to estimate the customer demand for product categories & associated products. So it has a collaboration of Supply Chain & Sales team. No need to counter and create separate plans. Further Supply Chain team adds supply constraints i.e ability of supply to meet demand(like production capacity etc.) to the above demand plan(which till earlier stage is known as 'unconstrained' demand plan) to create a constrained demand plan thus enabling Sales team/Order management team to commit & confirm schedule & quantity for all incoming orders.
