I didn't make past the first couple. Rodriguez was awkward and not funny. Trying to hard to be funny is not entertaining. Having those couples sitting so close together?? Who's stupid idea was that and why wasn't it shot down immediately. What an embarrassment to the original 60's-70's concept with Bob Eubanks. ☹️

This is from 1989, not 1988, as per the copyright date. Paul Rodriguez debuted as host on 12/5/1988. GSN ran all three syndicated versions of the Newlywed Game, save for the Paul Rodriguez half season and the 1996-97 season of the show with a different format with Gary Kroeger hosting

They made a huge mistake hiring Paul Rodriguez. Bob mentioned in his book "It's In the Book Bob" that he wanted to give Paul pointers to host the Newlywed Game, but Paul wanted to host it his own way. Big mistake.

I don't think Paul did bad with his stint on TNG, he wasn't Bob Eubanks, but did what he could, it's hard to replace a legend who did it for 21 years.

The Newlywed Game was never any good without Bob Eubanks. He had a natural way of getting information out of nervous couples and his laugh tickled me. He was so comfortable in front of the camera and the audience. No one was ever able to fill his shoes properly. .

While I agree it wasnt the same...there are some dodgy moments even from bob, usually in him forcing something which ends up not being funny or trying to extract some sexual answer that's not there and it comes of creepy....did u see him host the nascar one...hilarious....he didnt like one of the drivers and the driver wasnt interested so gave him shit....hilarious on both sides

@@triadsamurai4556 Sherri Shepherd was less of a fit for Best Ever Trivia show last year than she was for Newlywed Game. Best Ever Trivia show in its second season on GSN was retitled Master Minds with Brooke Burns formerly of GSN's the CHase.

The best episodes usually are. Paul is not Eubanks but he's a very funny guy.
