Interesting. On the video for the stair rails, it expressly states that the posts at the top of the stairs should be taller than the decking posts (looks ugly by the way). In this video, the posts at the top of the stairs are the same height.

What do you do about the screw heads that are protruding on the top of the deck framing when you go to install the decking on top of the frame?

Could be. Depending on cost. But its hard to beat a deck make from treated 2x6. For something way thinner that looks like plastic.

Its about time. There ought to be all kinds of kits to build decks with in an afternoon, from plastic and other materials. America what are you doing? Sitting down? We can make anything.

There appears to be no solution offered for hanging a deck built with this system around a cantilevered rear door entryway. This type of bay-view door/window is fairly common for a breakfast nook or interior dining area, and what is typically done with wood framing is to attach beams on either side of this directly to the foundation. There is no support or information on how to do this with the FBP steel decking system, which cuts down significantly on the size of the market they could be going after with this system. The only solution seems to be to dig footings for a beam near the foundation and cantilever joists up to the cantilevered portion of the doorway, so the deck is entirely freestanding in this area. This poses problems with the other areas that would attach to the house using the S channel, as now the entire deck isn't one solid unit on the house connection side. I don't think this is feasible, and would force a designer to opt for an entirely free standing deck, which adds significant cost and complexity to the required number of very deep footings that would need to be installed below the potential for settling (a full 8 or 9 ft down to the basement footings) due to the backfill excavated when the home was built. As such, it seems this system is not necessarily ready for half of the use cases out there. When a customer is told they need to install screw piles to make their deck work with this steel framing, do you think they're going to pay that cost?

With a flush beam application, the joist hangers have the hex driller head protruding into the decking field, how do you overcome these screws protruding on the surface?

I'm guessing it's at least 5x the cost of wood! Maybe more... So if you need a deck for your $2M dollar house. This is the deck for you!
