This is possibly the best match Davis ever played regards quality , especially as he was playing the next generation (you could even say the next next generation)

Wonderful, thank you. Brilliantly inventive safety shot by Reardon at 10.21 - simple looking but very very clever.

If the Model Y was a three-wheeler (Musk’s next move to claim billions?) you’d say the fourth wheel in the Beemer wasn’t needed???? 😂🤣😂 You didn’t scorn the Model Y’s primitive isofix ‘facility’. That’s a wrestling match for a lifetime with small kids and you know it. You played down the driver-necessities like the stalks, an array of dedicated buttons, the console control panel, the things that for many make a car complete. Safety features such as radar, parking sensors, head up display - did you mention them or downplay them?

(I’m a relatively recent newcomer so be patient) I’m used to “foul and a miss” when the cue ball doesn’t touch a red, and the opponent has the option to make them try again. I noticed this didn’t happen, they only did the foul and the four points. Is this something that has changed between then and now
@digeme69
@digeme69 2 күн бұрын
They started changing the miss rule around the early 90s. As you've mentioned here, in the old days 99% of the time a foul would be a foul and nothing more, no balls replaced etc, although the refs did have the discretion to replace the balls if they felt it wasn't a genuine effort to hit the balls. Nowadays a miss is called again and again virtually until they hit the ball. Once again though the refs have the discretion to not call a miss if they feel it was a genuine effort to hit the ball, but they rarely apply this. They just keep calling miss over and over even if 40/50 points are given away.

friendly game back then, chances galore, today's clinical players would destroy them and as a reasonable standard club player I would have taken frames off them, don't think I could snatch a frame off today's players.

Is it not a delight to watch a frame of snooker without half the audience calling out between each shot? Not even applause until the very end..... I'd forgotten how good things used to be. Sad that we have now lost Ray Reardon. I did have the please of meeting him many times, a really wonderful player and a true gent.

Dickie Davie's was so well known, he was even taken off by Benny Hill. Modern snooker players are all managed, perhaps media training has stifled their character showing through.
