My name is Kuari, I'm not legendary, I might be legendary if I just behave My name is Kuari, I'm not legendary I could be legendary 'cuz I'm very brave My name is Kuari, I'm not very scary Someday I'll be scary and I like mice! My name is Kuari, I'm not very scary But I don't think you're scary, I think you're nice Both mom and dad think that you're nice, too And we belong together Through storms and sunlight I'll fly with you We can be bond-brothers of a feather ('cept that you don't have feathers, you're just kinda hairy 'cept where you're bald - Oo!!) My name is Kuari, you don't feel too scary You don't make me wary; on you I'll depend My name is Kuari, the world is less scary And we'll be legendary 'cuz we'll be best friends [music interlude] My name is Kuari, someday I'll be scary And we'll be legendary 'Cuz we'll be... best... friends

Many years after hearing this filk, I finally got around to reading the Moore stories (you can borrow the collection electronically through Overdrive from your library). It was kind of cool to read the stories behind the song, but I wasn't prepared for the weirdness. If they had been written in the 1960s I would have supposed LSD were involved (like Silverberg's 'Son of Man'), but this was the late 1930s. Definitely worth the read!

My only complaint is the inclusion of the word "shotgun". There are no shotguns ever mentioned and I'm sure that some other word could have been found.

There's another song about a similar incident from the perspective of two survivors who became Oathsworn and tracked the creature down. I remember the line " never waste your pity on the snow"

I don't remember the specifics, but this reminds me of that time a town in the US asked the soviets to build them a bridge because the local government wouldn't

What's the lore behind this? Like, is there a series?
@SPofSaturnProductionАй бұрын
Yes, there is. It is the tie in for the book Oathbreakers by Mercedes Lackey. It's part of the Vows and Honors series but can be enjoyed on it's own.

I like the art work of Talia but I some how don't see all of the heralds having cream cloaks ? I have got the imagine of them having grey or perhaps dark blue ones. the picture of Talia on the cover of my book shows her with a blue one. I understand the trainees have grey ones

is the singer meant to Kero's Grand mother Keth. I believe she told this story to the Shin'a'In after she was proven to be a good mage. I understand that Tarma's people where un sure about magic after the mass murder of the hawk clan by a evil mage.

I am guessing Kethery's grand daughter Kero is singing to Warrel Tarma's Magical wolf companion? or is the song about Kyree in general?

A detail from the books is how tarma complains that the bard got the details of their disguises wrong. In the song, it says the lady is the swordswomen and the maid is the mage, but it was actually the other way around because kethry was so tired from holding a bunch of illusion spells for days that she couldn't do anything but sit in a wagon and try not to drool on herself. Tarma was constantly feeding her and giving her water, but that only sold the story that they were a rich noble lady with a drug habit and her maid.

Which book?
@xqiuvmah2 ай бұрын
@@stefanc3651 "oathbreakers" by Mercedes Lackey. It is the 2nd book in the Oathbound trilogy. The trilogy is a collection of adventures following 2 women, Tarma and Kethry. Tarma is a warrior priestess and Kethry is a sorceress. They work as mercenaries that primarily save young women because Kethry is soulbound to a magic sword that compels its user to save women

Children playing in the snow Further out than they should go, Saw a stranger walking near Never stopped to think or fear. Hair like snow, eyes that gleam, Things aren't always what they seem Teeth too long, hands too thin Always look beneath the skin! Greetings children, the woman said, It's so cold, I'm chilled near dead, Where's your camp and family, too? Won't you take me home with you? Hair like snow, eyes that gleam, Things aren't always what they seem. Teeth too long, hands too thin Always look beneath the skin! Long white hair so nice; white hair and eyes like ice She spoke so fair she seemed so Foolish children did not ask, Why she set them such a task. Hair like snow, eyes that gleam Things aren't always what they seem Teeth too long, hands too thin Always look beneath the skin! They did not wait to find a guard, They led her straight to their own yard They did not think to ask their kin, They brought her home and let her in Hair like snow, eyes that gleam Things aren't always what they seem Teeth too long, hands too thin Always look beneath the skin! And when she was well hid inside Then she cast off her human hide. Her fangs showed long, her claws sprang free A hungry fierce snow beast was she! Hair like snow, eyes that gleam Things aren't always what they seem Teeth too long, hands too thin Always look beneath the skin! And all that night through every tent She stalked and slaughtered as she went When the sun raised up his head, Half of all that tribe lay dead. Hair like snow, eyes that gleam, Things aren't always what they seem Teeth too long, hands too thin Always look beneath the skin! For pretty words and pretty whiles And pretty looks and pretty smiles Those folks where slain and scattered all, Because they let their caution fall. Hair like snow, eyes that gleam Things aren't always what they seem. Teeth too long, hands too thin Always look beneath the skin! Always look beneath the skin!
