This song was popular when I was in Fifth Grade, and there was a sweet boy in my class named Bobby Nichols. He also had a voice made for this song. He would sing it in class just before Lunch. I think the Teacher enjoyed hearing him sing this. The last time I saw Bobby was the first day of school in Junior High. We met on the front steps as we entered the new building. We greeted each other with fond smiles of friendship. We had known each other since Second Grade. But we never saw each other again. We didn't meet in the halls, the Lunch Room, or on leaving at the end of the day to be picked up by our parents. I had always believed that he would become a famous 'Crooner'. But music changed, and so did my generation.

As long as we have the music J Frank Wilson and the Calivers will be with us. He was still here in San Angelo. He'd come by on Sunday mornings ask for a beer, sat on the couch, drew pictures for James and Jana and sang to John in my stomach. A really good guy and friend. He just couldn't handle singing songs so close to the wreck. You can get all the songs downloaded. I'm 75 and I still lose their music.

Would you believe there are versions of this song in other languages? I first heard it in school in the 70s when a Nicaraguan girl gave it to me when I was studying Spanish: it was El Ultimo Beso by Polo. It had the same idea. I recently heard a French version by Michel Paje called Premiers Baisers. More about a love gone wrong. Same melody, though. 1964. Great female background singers, especially near the end of the song!

I love that song by los Doltons. I first heard El Ultimo Beso by Polo in school in the 70s & it has been my favorite song all these years, of all time. I recently heard one in French on YT called Premiers Baisers (First Kisses) about a love gone wrong. Same melody, tho. Great female back-up singers!

Oh - where oh - where my baby be? The Lord took her away from me She's gone to heaven, so I got to be good So I can see my baby when I leave this world .... We were out on a date in my daddy's car We hadn't driven very far There in the road straight up ahead A car was stalled the engine was dead !! I couldn't stop - so I swerved to the right I'll never forget the sound that night The cryin' tires the busting glass The painful scream that I heard last .... Oh - where, oh where could my baby be? The Lord took her away from me !! She's gone to heaven, so I got to be good So I can see my baby when I leave this world .... When I woke up the rain was pouring down There were people standing all around Something warm running in my eyes ... But I found my baby somehow that night. I raised her head she smiled and said "Hold me darling for a little while" I held her close, I kissed her our last kiss I found the love that I knew I have missed ..... Well - now she's gone even though I hold her tight I lost the love of my life that night Oh - where oh where could my baby be? The Lord took her away from me She's gone to heaven, so I got to be good So I can see my baby when I leave this world ..... Uhmm Uh Uh ....

@@ronaldherrera1238 I first heard this song in Spanish: El Ultimo Beso by Polo. It is one gorgeous song in Spanish, and Polo (RIP) had an amazing voice. Sadly, Polo passed away in the 70s in his 20s due to drowning in a swimming pool. I took Spanish in school in the 70s, but since I am old now, I can't remember it, since my late husbands and my friends and family did not speak it. Otherwise I would have posted this in Spanish!❤❤❤
