I have a gladiolus, that I recently transplanted, to my home from an old home place, it was blooming at the time, today is July 1st 2024, I live in North Georgia, the gladiolus has done its thing, it bloomed and it was beautiful, but now it appears, the buds are fattening up again, is it possible my gladiolus will bloom again this year? God bless you and thank you very much,, outside temperature in the high 80s, I water it everyday
@NationalGardenBureau20 күн бұрын
Glads, as you know, do not rebloom from the same corm. They might be fattening up and producing seeds which we recommend cutting off. This way the glad will focus its energy on the corm. You could just leave it and see what happens! Let us know.

Why do some gardeners say it is better to cut it?
@NationalGardenBureau28 күн бұрын
I guess because they don't know that the peppers are ready when they can be pulled off and you don't need a cutter. They must be harvesting when they are not mature.

Which fertilizer is best for heuchera?
@NationalGardenBureauАй бұрын
In the spring, add compost or a balanced slow-release granular fertilzer around the base. For containers, use a water-soluble fertilzer for best results.

these geraniums i have.. they flower constantly, but only keep their leaves on the top new growth.. so theyre always these tall, ugly, lanky stems, with flowers and a few leaves on top.. whats up with that
@NationalGardenBureauАй бұрын
To prevent your geraniums from getting leggy, you must prune them at least once a year. They are naturally leggy, woody plants in the wild so to keep them compact in your garden, you will need to prune off the top third once a year. Legginess can also be a result of poor light conditions - they need full sun.
@longfootbuddyАй бұрын
@@NationalGardenBureau the old woman that gave it to me, warned me that it was a certain type of geranium that required more pruning than normal geraniums.. id like to know what kind of variety it is, but search engines are terrible, and the only results i get are for how to get more flowers.. i guess ill just have to immediatly cut off new growth, from this cutting i started, so that it will branch out, because im stubborn and sentimental, and want to keep it in some way
@NationalGardenBureauАй бұрын
@@longfootbuddy That is very sweet. It is very hard to tell a variety of geranium especially if it is an older variety because there are so many newer ones out there. Maybe somewhere here might be able to help - www.geraniumsociety.org/

Can you take it back indoors
@NationalGardenBureau2 ай бұрын
Technically you could transition the Canna back indoors as a foliage plant but it might not perform as beautifully as expected. The transition can be rough from full sun summer and heat loving flowering plant to indoor darker cooler conditions foliage plant. But experimentation is a horticulturalists greatest fun.

Why are my blooms turning brown?
@NationalGardenBureau2 ай бұрын
I asked our NGB Hydrangea Expert from Bailey's Nursery who said "The brown blooms could be a number of things, depending on species, but typically it means that there’s a shortage of water or simply that the bloom is aging and can be deadheaded." If you have more questions, please let us know.

My mind said that I need to til the soil. I’m not sure how and what to cover it back with so that I can plant flowers! Please help me I’m in Blythewood
