Tone Deaf; that, apparently is what Jeff Jackson is. Throw in, a poor judge of character. For 'not being able to read the room', Jeff has just shown that he is NOT the man to lead the Oilers, and the heat must now be put on Katz to fire JJ and end this clown show. Yes, I am serious. Not only must Stan be shown the door, but so must Jeff Jackson. This is an egregious error. Stan should be given a second chance...in life, but NOT in hockey. My anger over this is not going away any time soon.
@leaffanking42 минут бұрын
everyone gets a second chance but you do not bring that mess to an already prime top three in the league team!!!

Bowman! As an Oilers fan this breaks my heart. We have the best fans in the world, as a reward we are stuck with this heartless monster that covered up and protected a sexual predator, allowing them to offend again and again. Until this man is fired, my wallet and support are shut off to this organization. I'm not watching a single game, buying a single jersey, or supporting them publicly in any way. Some principles cannot be compromised, and I will never support those that allow young men to be assaulted by protecting the predator. any one that stands up for Bowman is a clown and should be treated like a clown. disgusting on so many levels. shake you head Seravalli Jeff Jackson Kats or any one that supports this guy should never be in pro sports own a team or speak on a media platform ever again, and if any one think he deserves a second chance, then there also a clown.

I disagree. Stan has a championship resume, and a winning record. He's made mistakes in the past, but people deserve second chances.

karma always gets paid. How many years was McTavish the murderer who drank and drove and killed an innocent woman? The oilers have 15 years of pain when he is in the organization. Now finally after getting rid of the bad karma, (Mac T) the teams gets good and have an amazing July first and get better, now you hire this look the other way, pro se x ual abuse weirdo to be the boss. Karmic debt always gets paid. first-round exit and more years of pain for Edmonton.

As a person who played hockey , and I met Theo Fleury, I had to testify about a SA as a teen, something I never have forgotten about. Stan Bowman should never have been allowed back in , he only got in because of his family’s legacy. Iam a huge Canucks fan. the Canucks even cut ties with Jake Virtanen.

To everyone bitching about this hire, ask your selves a question. How will you feel next year at the end of June when the Oilers hoist the cup? Seriously think this through. No it won't be because Bowman whipped the team into shape. Yes Bowman has an easy job this year, but thats not the point. If EDM can lock up a top 4 RHD, sign the RFA's & get Drais extension done this year then go on to win a Cup or three, no one will care about any of this. That the funny thing, all of these snowflakes will melt as soon as the Oil win. Or at least they will stop bitching about something that honestly, all they really know is the narrative. Typical Snowflakes

I don't like this hire, but it's not for the glaringly obvious reason that everyone else has. Whatever he did in the past is in the past at this point. It's been years. He has been working on himself over the years. It is what it is. What I'm looking at is his track record and it's not very good. He won a couple cups with a team that was handed to him on a golden platter encrusted with diamonds. Then he turned the team into a steaming pile of poop in the years that followed. Regardless of the type of person he is or may have been, he's NOT a good GM.

What an own goal by Jackson. Anything to perpetuate this old boys' network, I guess. As if Bowman was deserving of this plum job... yeah, I get that he's "repented", but that doesn't make him the right guy to steer THIS ship. The Oilers don't need him. There are plenty of other qualified candidates. It was a Blackhawks scandal, nothing to do with the Oilers, so why drag it here?
@bbutters29 сағат бұрын
Yeah! What if some players just won't want to play under Stan Bowman. They could demand to want out or boycott and...awwwww man, if they don't rethink this and get someone else, this could sink the Oilers FAST.
@bbutters29 сағат бұрын
I can't see this lasting, the players, fans and employees of the Oilers will petition for a different G.M., if all those people stay vocal on social media about this they'll have to get rid of him cause some players and staff will want out asap. This sucks.

Well there was Craig McTavish, I’m not supporting Bowman ( don’t want him ) but Craig did kill someone Drunk Driving went to prison came out and they gave him a fresh start in Edmonton.

@astoundinglyaverage853815 сағат бұрын
I really don't understand why they would make this decision. They just had the best season in DECADES, why would they give their fanbase any reason to lose faith in the motivations of oilers as an organization? Even if they fire him because of the backlash, that would tell us that they didn't care about it until they realized they are gonna lose money... He was the scapegoat for the Blackhawks for the scandal, which is shitty, the responsibility is on wayy more people than Bowman, but that doesn't mean he has any business working in the NHL ever again. Really disappointed.

First of all this was not the best off season the Oilers have ever had. I saw some pretty good off seasons in the 80s and 1990. Secondly I read the section on front office staff of the report. Stan was told by higher ups that it was going to be taken care of and that he was to focus on the team in the playoffs. As far as he knew it was being handled appropriately. He’s had communication with the victim and has worked with him since. I hear ya on why did they have to hire him, but it’s not as bad as it first appears. We should all have all the facts before we think this is a stain on the Oilers organization.
