They were trying to keep him from being filmed. This is early into when film was becoming more widely used. Many did not like the concept of it and how they may appear.

This is beautiful! I love this style of music so much. Never knew the lyrics were about Yom Kippur except for the sacrifice part as I don’t speak Hebrew and only know basic phrases

I finally really understand a dimension of Yom Kippur from this song. There is a sense of national attonement that is intrinsic to this day which this song points out.
