Hi,... Great video. I noticed you did not seem to have a spring in your charging button tube before installing back under the forearm.... Mine has one and was, by far, the most difficult part of reassembly... This is because my forearm stock had to be reinstalled before the tube and the spring would distort under the stock while compressing.... Does that make sense?...
@MilsurpGarage8 сағат бұрын
Yeah, mine is missing and I never replaced it because the rifle works without it…..don’t remember exactly what it kept tension on but it wasn’t affecting the function. I think you find them missing sometimes because they aren’t easy to reinstall.

Another great video on a classic piece of iron! I’m like you, never shy away from buying an oldie and fixing it up. You can still get 22WRF in a CCI round- I have a few boxes. It’s like a 22 Magnum short. But they’re jacketed instead of plated I think- I bought some to use in my Ruger LCR, but they specifically say not to use in a revolver because the jackets may cause the rounds to get stuck in the barrel- I think you could shoot them from a 22WMR rifle fine though

"Closing the Book." The shells didn't show up in evidence for nearly a week and they were not the ones that Hill called in that were supposedly initialed and identified as automatics. The bullets were never matched to the revolver. And that is just the beginning of the problems with the Tippit Murder. The Two wallets, the creamy white Eisenhower Jacket that Oswald did not own, and had a CA Hollywood dry cleaning ticket stapled to the inside, not the mention the witness testimony is awful, starting with Markham and ending with Reynolds who had to be shot in the head to finally I.D. Oswald as the shooter. (The shooter's alibi was a Ruby Stripper, who would later hang herself in Jail.)

Bill Ruger’s endorsement of magazine limits was wrong no matter how you try to justify it. The industry going along with such ideas only enabled the gun haters.
@MilsurpGarage5 күн бұрын
Funny, I don't remember trying to justify it.....was just telling the history of Ruger and their reason for limited magazine capacity. If anything, I believe I was a proponent of why that idea of Rugers regarding limiting magazine capacity was NOT going to have the desired effect and why. Sometimes I wonder if anyone is really listening....... Anyway, business is business and Ruger was surely a successful businessman so who are we to critique his business practices anyway.....he was a real tough dude and would probably smack us both for opening our mouths. Must admit.....the flush to the stock 10 round rotary mag in the 10/22 was a game changer for 22's....no mag fed autoloader was that sleek.

If Oswald trained with an M-1 why would he order some Italian rifle, which is a pos
@MilsurpGarage7 күн бұрын
Well, I can think of a couple of reasons, simply conjecture of course. One, Carcano rifles are one of the cheapest military surplus rifles now…..and likely we’re back then. Oswald was certainly not too well off and a similar “name brand” scoped rifle would have been much more expensive. Two, using a rifle made during a Fascist regime was saying something…..left right there at the window as a message.

I would like to ask you what the difference is between the detective model and the agent. I have an agent model. Could you answer me? Thank you.
@MilsurpGarage7 күн бұрын
Basically, the difference is a lighter alloy frame. The Detective Special (born in 1927) was a Police Positive Special with a 2'' barrel. Then the Cobra came along in 1950 which was the Detective Special with an alloy frame. In 1962 the Agent appeared which was a Cobra with a shortened and squared off butt. They only came one way.....2'' barrel, 38 cal, blued, checkered walnut grips. Claim to fame......model with the least options (none) than any other Colt offering.

my model 80 is a old one no serial number no safety and came with a peep sight on the cocking peace and a med heavy barrel . have you seen what a magazine goes for on feebay? its insane! mine is def a first version. i made a target stock for it and gave the original stock to my buddy. he had a model 80 with a cracked stock but i kept the trigger guard and bottom metal. it was made between 1935-1937 for sure. i asked the lgs owner for the best shooting 22 he had in the shop..and after about 90 min of inspecting rifled he handed me ranger mod 36 aka the marlin mod 80 and proceeded to hunt threw a big box of lose random 22lr mags and located the magazine. wen i asked how much do i owe you he grabbed a calculator fidgeted with it and said a hundred bucks sound good? hell yeah it sounds good! he also promised i would be happy with the accuracy. and he was correct! ive put about 3-4k rounds threw it in the last 20 odd yrs and im always amazed how well it shoots cheap ammo. it grouped rem golden bullet just as well as cci green tag..
