Worked there for years as maintenance decorator, the best place anyone could work , the place is beautiful the grounds the buildings had many a happy times there , walked and worked them corridors for years , Christmas there was unreal , be good to the place , wish you could of seen the patients and staff , . That hospital was known world wide , and famous people who’s needed its help , from eating disorders to all types of mental illness, the community loves this place as it was one of its employers , 👍👍👍it wasn’t a prison it’s a beautiful hospital that for over 300 years changed the way mentally I’ll people should of been treated with dignity and respect 👍my wife also worked there for years we met and got married there , the full community grew up with the retreat , we still play cricket now there ,

This building was St Vincent’s school for deaf children who needed sign language support. It was an annex to St John’s school further up the road which was oral. My son was a student there in the eighties and nineties. It’s very sad to see it in this condition.

Not seen yet was changed into retirement flats for 55+ there last year but I only went to st Johns school for the deaf which might has past it many times
@gamerbuggie43832 ай бұрын
0:06 I know that school as it was used to be linked to my deaf school nearby in Boston Spa. This school name St Vincent's School. I believe it was based on Deaf and Blind. I'm not sure but I was heard by my friends and staffs rumours about this school for years and wondering why it had been abandoned. I believe it might have been shortage of staff or children. It's shame that they closed down and we as a children use to walk to village past St Vincent's School and back to school evening. I'm ex pupil of St John's School for the Deaf in Boston Spa for boarding. I believe it had been haunted just like my deaf school lol. Hope this help to you.

Actually it's named St Joseph's School for Girls but it can be with St Vincent's School as well in same place

What a waste of a building. Instead of maintaining what they've got properly, they will build a new court for 43 million of our tax money. Really interesting explore
@andrewbillmarleyschannel22 ай бұрын
this building is far too run down, and they are building a brand new state of the art cinema in its place to go with the rest of a £300m regeneration plan
@olliei2 ай бұрын
@@andrewbillmarleyschannel2 For sure it’s very run down, but that’s a conscious decision the owners took over many years. Besides, a full strip back to the shell and redevelopment would save all that concrete waste. The police station next door is a more obvious choice to save though. There are very similar towers in Preston and Wigan that were converted to flats and a premier inn. Imagine those stag and hen groups paying to spend a night in the cells!
@VelvetMetrolinkАй бұрын
@olliei The shell is RAAC. That's why it closed. Strip it back to the shell and you just have crumbling concrete. And "the owners" are the state. The poor maintenance over the years is what was voted for. It's called austerity.
