Nice review of this Union Pacific dd35a locomotive! I like the detail on it!
@Greatdome99Ай бұрын
Southern Pacific owned three DD35B units as well. DC traction motors did not go away--they are still offered in some models (like Amtrak's P-42 psgr diesels). AC motors are better at lugging at low speeds, but DCs are better at higher speeds. The color scheme on your model is UP's current scheme, not the as-delivered 1960s versions (e.g., with silver trucks and a red sill stripe). The colors--Armour Yellow/Harbor Mist Gray--date back to 1934 and are the oldest scheme still in service.

Very nice layout. Is the narrow gauge line functional or just for scenery.

You can buy a JLC version that looks the same and will cost you less (used)... I have owned 6 of the JLC models of the Big Boy over the years and they always ran perfectly....Lionel quality has gone to shit.

Anyone who calls Standard gauge “G scale” doesn’t know much about Lionel trains…..
@BigBoyTrains-2 ай бұрын
That was an honest filming mistake. In the video, you can clearly see right as I said that, I was looking at the sign that said Standard Gauge. . But walking and filming, trying not to bump into people got the best of me. Nice watch catching the slip though!!
@momatmach12 ай бұрын
@@BigBoyTrains- I should apologise, it was obviously a slip but hopefully not one that’ll lead newbies into thinking standard gauge is G

Wow, this is impressive! I do not think I have ever watched a 360 video that allowed the viewer to manipulate the video like yours. I was thinking as I was watching this that it would be very neat to be able to view the different halls and tables either before (like pregame) or early on in the show so folks could easily get the lay of the land, but that would be very difficult to do I suspect without prior approval from the TCA. Very cool and thank you for sharing this. Bill B.

Thanks, Bill. . This is the precursor to that request. . Hopefully they appreciate what I have done here, and allow a preshow version to be done in October. . . Without stepping on Dakmans toes, of course

Great video! There’s absolutely no excuse for having issues with a $3,000 locomotive. A model costing that much should have a top notch mechanism. Will be avoiding this loco because of the known issues.

I have owned 6 of the JLC models of the BB and several of the challengers and NEVER had a issue with any of the JLCs........true they don't have smoke coming out more holes ... but I never was a fan of white smoke (it should be black)

I purchased the same model Big Boy, put it on the track and sure enough got the flashing cab light. Because of your video I had no issue soldering the wire back on myself. I couldn't believe the top is held on by only four screws. Keep up the great work.

Ha, ha, you got me, I should have known, how could one spend days at York and not come away amazed and thrilled by the experience. You hit the nail on the head, of course York is about the trains, but for many of us it is much more. The people and the friendships that come with the York experience is the best part. That ultra-wide birds I view is very interesting. Not something I have seen before. Sorry we did not get a chance to connect at York, not sure how that happened, but I'll try to do so at the next event where we both attend. Enjoyed the video, keep up the great work! Bill B.

After last years April show I wondered what this year would look like. Thanks for the hall views. The April show seem to still be shrinking, more empty table, and was surprised at the setup of Orange definitely less tables in there then in the past.

I first filmed this when the place was full, and I had to keep stopping as I ran into people. . So I waited until the end of the last day to film again. Some people had already packed up and were headed home at this point.
