This has been amazing information thank you for being open! Currently I'm an Assistant Accountant deciding on whether to do ACCA or CIMA. I know people generally consider ACCA harder and most say both qualifications are similar in weight but after being qualified for a few years what do you think? is the ACCA worth doing over CIMA for career progression or is it minor differences?

I am 40 years old and make £105k salary as a software engineer. Fully remote and chill company. Wondering if I should push it and try for an increase. I'm at the top of the pile and if I move I probably look for £120k+ jobs which do exist but are rare I think

Most important one: assess your market value yearly! Put your CV out there and always be on the lookout for new opportunities. If you don’t, your salary progression will stagnate! Don’t be that person who spends 5+ years at a company with small incremental yearly salary increase. The only way to get substantial raises is by job hopping.

Buy a place aborad, not the UK, buy a place abroad, portugal, spain etc, do short term rentals, which give you a huge return on your investment, well over 10% a year, use that money to fund your life in the UK

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him shall not perish but have eternal life. That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead thou shalt be saved. If we confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all of. For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ. Jesus is the only way the truth and the life and no man cometh unto the father but by him. Repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

This is super helpful, thanks!! Currently in the process of buying a house and I'll take all the tips I can! One thing though (and you may already have) - please close your Barclays account! They're the biggest funders of the Israeli genocide against Palestinians and many many people have moved to more ethical banks since October <3

Great video. I’m in the exact same position as you. Currently own 25% of my flat and been here just over 3.5yrs. I’m now thinking of buying a freehold house but the thing that worries me is all of the hidden exit fees and the potential of the property price going down too - since I own the 25% with no mortgage. Also have considered staircasing to full ownership but not sure it’s worth it.

I'm currently doing ACCA, and I'm really interested in thigs like python, math and finance, I would love to do a master's in business analytics and specialize in Finance or a master's in data science after ACCA, would you recommend something like this? And given my interest which field would you recommend I should work in? Audit? Financial Advisory? etc?

It's better to sell at 25%. More people looking into SO can afford that than say 50%. and a lot of people who can fully afford a flat at 50% and above may rather go for a house instead. plus, it leaves more affordable options for other first time buyers

Hi. I have just ordered my first credit card with Barclaycard for a 'forward' card. Is it better to buy more smaller amounts on it rather than larger amounts so the number of transaction increase?

I've initiql been in a shared ownership but starecased. 17 years on nw. Id advise to starecase to 100%. When it comes to selling its easier, as its open to the wider market. You get all the capital gains. Also you can remortgage and buy pull some equity to get a 2nd property.

Hi Ela, Im currently applying for audit role at a big 4 studying ACA. I saw that you studied ACCA. Could you explain how the two qualifications differ in terms of the skills you gain and job opportunities? I am also aspiring to become a qualified chartered accountant

Hi Ela, I am 30yo Manager in Hospitality with a BSc in Economics and i am currently looking into accounting entry level positions. I have been applying but with 0 prior experience or relevant qualifications i dont think i have many chances. So my question is (If i may) would you suggest that i go for AAT or straight to ACCA? keep in mind please that i dont get any exceptions in ACCA because my university degree (Hons) is Greek not British but i have full access to funds for masters etc. I know that ACCA is harder and takes more time plus i have to work full time 42+ hours a week to pay my bills. Thank you.

I needed this. Thanks Ela. Recently qualified and trying to leave my current Big 4 firm as had a bad manager who screwed me over in performance reviews and instead of leaving, I tried to fight it internally and now realised HR works for the company's/hierarchy's best interest.

no probs! I'm really sorry you're going through that, that manger sounds awful - hate that the HR team aren't doing their job properly in this case too. Huge congrats on qualifying tho and honestly a move out of big 4 right now might be the best thing for you anyway, companies love hiring newly qualified ( especially from big 4!!) so you will most likely find a much better paid role in industry with a better culture/manager
