IRS states it is NOT deductable by your business and tax free to you. Per IRS Pub 538 on accounting methods: "Related Persons: Business expenses and interest owed to a related person who uses the cash method of accounting are not deductible until you make the payment and the corresponding amount is includible in the related person's gross income."

Will it be worth to get reimbursement of home from scorp using accountable plan from one side and decrease your deduction on the same amount on property taxes, interst when you use itemized deduction?

Thank you for your insight! I own a small freight brokerage but I’m new to sales. I hired two sales agents with a ton of experience. I’m struggling with creating a sales structure that’s fair but profitable. They are currently working customers but are neglecting prospecting for new customers. This was helpful as a foundation for the structure. Thanks again😊

Two Questions about my wifes S-corp. We can easily have a monthly shareholder meeting and go over items and use the house as a rental space for the meeting. I have created invoices to invoice her S-corp. But what is the best rental agreement to have with her Corporation, Most are lease or month to month typical rental agreements, anything you reccommend? 2nd, I did not quite get the 1099-misc. So I have here Comapny 1099-misc for the income from the corp? How should it be noted so does not have to me declared on personal taxes?

Can you deduct the equivalent of per hour hotel business room in the area instead of the daily rent of a house. Meanings if an hotel charge for a meeting room $100 per hour. I use 8 hours then my write off is $800 for that day? Then take that amount and multiply by 14, Instead of the house rental is $4,000 a month to charge almost $2,000?

thx for explaining not just the concept but the process; makes all the difference. I was wondering about the 1099-MISC from the corp, and whether that would cause IRS to look for a Sched E. thx for explaining you should exclude it from E, with a notation about 280(a) I guess. Hopefully the related party rules don't ruin this.

You are correct, this strategy is prohibited by the IRS. Hi Bryan, Since there is enough time for me to edit my 1120S, how do I properly record the Accountable Plan amount on my 1120S Form (via TurboTax Business edition). HOW and WHERE to record the amount on 1120S? Will it be called Accountable Plan under “Other Expense” or something like that? Thank you. (Unfortunately, I had been paying my home expenses under my business account. All expenses were recorded in my Quickbooks. As you can imagine, my P&L and Balance Sheet is off.)

What if my SCorp is already paying for my home insurance, utilities, property tax, HOA, directly from my business checking account? I’m confused as to why an Accountable Plan is needed for our home business? ,
@CleverProfits
@CleverProfits 2 жыл бұрын
We don't recommend paying for your personal housing expenses directly from your business checking account. Deducting personal expenses relating to your home on your business return is not allowed within the tax code. The best practice is to pay for personal expenses from your personal accounts and claim a reimbursement for the business use portion out of your business.
@marketbuy
@marketbuy 2 жыл бұрын
@@CleverProfits Thank you. Since this was my first year doing SCorp for 2021, I had been paying those expenses under my business account. In fact, Ive been doing this since LLC days. Hopefully, I will not get into trouble although the outcome is still the same (direct payments vs reimbursements). I noticed when I was doing LLC Schedule C, a portion of the home office expenses were prorated based on my office square footages vs total home footages. So when I did my 1120S, I was thinking how do I prorate it under SCorp? I didn’t know any better until I saw this video. Accountable Plan eh? Got it!

Second question. If the business has to issue a 1099 MISC, isn't it required of the recipient of the 1099 to report that income? How do they exclude it on their 1040?
@CleverProfits
@CleverProfits Жыл бұрын
They would report the income and then take a deduction for the same amount. They could just call that deduction "Augusta rule."
