I had a 58 MGA Coupe, I used to use the hand crank and give the engine a few turns before hitting the starter in winter. The car would never start when temperature was below 32F till I replaced the pull with a Ford solinoid and a push button.

Bonjour ! J'aime beaucoup ces petites voitures, si j'avais plus d'argent, je vous en achèterais bien un exemplaire, et nous voyons tous que vous êtes amoureux de ces petits bolides ! 🥰

my first car was a 1963 Midget in Detroit, Mi (1968). When I moved to Los Angeles I got a 1959 Austin Healy Frog Eye (1974). Sprite Mk I Rules it's was spray painted on the underpass pillar at the junction of SB I-5 and EB on The Ventura Fwy (134) by the LA Zoo. So it MUST be true, good times 'n fond memories. You're cars are beautiful thank-you for all your videos.

Kinda the way I used to drive my old VW. It had a full crashbox, no synchros on any gears. 1st and 2nd were sliding gears and howled only the way straight-cut gears can howl. 3rd and 4th were helical constant-mesh, still no synchros. Took awhile to master that thing, but I loved knowing how to double-clutch it all the way down to 1st.

A bargain at USD 3000 delivered to your door. Or is it free to a good home? All the 'little bit off' parts devalue it so much that you pay us to take it away. Why advertise without a price - unless yo are looing to gouge the customer?

Beige, not a popular colour in the Uk but I just love your restoration and interior, it isn't over restored but at my age I would struggle to get into it.

I actually have a factory original Dunlop 5.20/13 spare tyre that has never been used, in fact the rim has never been bolted on a car....... it 100% concourse perfect.

Not a fan of this, sorry, I’d prefer less customising, and more concentration on things like panel gaps, see the first pass down the side early in the vid. And at 4.20-ish, the bonnet/hood to A pillar gap compared to the door hinge edge gap. But each to his own…

Loving the exhaust note. So raspy it could almost be Italian. Can you explain which engine and which exhaust set up we see here. I presume this is one of your in house exhaust offerings? Sounds great whatever it is.

My dad owned a blue bug-eyed Sprite. He went all the way from Illinois to California in the 1970s to buy it, then he drove it back. He and my mom took several pretty impressive road trips in it. I got to drive it twice and I was impressed with how it drove and how spunky it was. But, for me, no long trips in it. I don’t know what happened to the little car. One day it was there and then it was gone.

Fully agree, 165/70's are the way to go. I find Thunderer Mach 1 to be a fantastic tire at a reasonable cost. I would say that moving to a 165/70 over a 155/80 was one of the best improvements I have made in over 50 years of Bugeye ownership. FWIW I am running these on wire rims and inner tubes. Super handling and comfortable ride.

I went with Kuhmo SOLUS 4S HA32 155/80R13's on my Bugeye. They're classified as an all season touring, not that I'll drive it very much in the winter. So far I've been quite happy with the performance. What's the aspect ratio on the Blockley 165R13'S? Other than the fact that they're next to impossible to source, would a 175/60R13 tire work well on a Bugeye?

must get pretty loud in the corrugated steel building when a train passes by... :) years ago i occasionally had cause to camp near active tracks while on an extended backpacking trip from calgary to denver. and when one of those big engines blasts by you the noise it creates is worthy of remark.

I had a 59 that same color back in the late 60s. Mine was never in that good of condition though. It is one of my favorite cars, so much fun to drive. Wish that I still had it.

It is a beautiful MG MGA! The color of the car and matching top! If you look at enough of these MGA's that have been "restored" you begin to see lots of them were done cheaply and it shows. Your car is absolutely impressive!

I loved my 59 bugeye. You could take one of the two fuses and put it between the four clips to defeat the ignition. I notice that the clips in the video look like they have something between the four clips to prevent this.
