It's funny how they understated "hundreds new quests" when this actually was over 3500. They could've said thousands of new quests. Can't wait for Cataclysm Classic and what they will do with #somechanges :)

Cata was garbage, when LFR came out at the end of WOTLK is what started to bleed WoW and the talent tree trimming killed it for me

I started wow when cataclysm released when I was 14! Then I took a break and I had the time of my life during WOW classic during the pandemic, so many happy memories. I wish the hype/community of wow classic continued but it came to an end with TBC classic. Good times honestly. Were any of you on Zandalar Tribe?

Cataclysm was like painting over the Sistine Chapel

I remember when this happened. Pure excitement and joy. Now when a new expansion is announced I couldn't care less. Also that guy being concerned at the end by a loud noise "was that from the speakers? What exploded?" In 2022 at a mass gathering in the USA if something sounds like an explosion there will be a mass panic and people getting trampled to get out. How times have changed.

These people had no idea the shitstorm that was about to hit every World of Warcraft expansion after Wrath of the Lich King... now no Blizzcon is ever as exciting as this because everyone knows that Blizzard is gone.

Cata was peak WoW, and I don't care what anyone else says. The endgame content might have been lesser compared to the vast continent of Northrend, but that wasn't the goal of Cata. The goal of Cata was revamping the miserable and dated 1-60 experience with all the improvements they'd made since they began. They absolutely succeeded. Pre-Cata, I only had two characters because I hated leveling through Azeroth. Post-Cata, I made many more, just to experience the different regional questlines properly. Maybe I'm too nostalgic, Cata was the only expansion I played from beginning to end, but I really loved it.

IF only the people in the audience knew, this was a good expansion, but it also changed the game so much for the worse.

The worst expansion

I remember, as soon as this was announced and they showed that Tauren Paladin, people were rushing to reserve the name "Holycow".

Man, I remember SEEING this as the news broke...the excitement was absolutely unmatched. Forget anything you think you know about hype-trains - nothing comes close to this. The prospect of expanding Azeroth, a world that already felt so immensely vast and so full of mystery and lore that you were still only scratching the surface of it even after several years. I know rose-tinted goggles are a thing, but good God - gaming pre-2010's was just a non-stop rollercoaster man.
