I started listening to pink Floyd around 1990 I had played metal most of my childhood on guitar and wanted to learn more mellow blues. Led zeppelin and pink Floyd were some of my favourites though I got a bit obsessed with the romantic sadness of pink Floyd took lsd and flipped out. 25 years later I’m single living with my kelpie but happy. As soon as I let go of that dream I wanted to travel back in time and be pink Floyd,, I went to heaven soon after letting it go. I don’t play guitar much anymore only a bit here and there. Being obsessed with music and particularly a band renowned for drug use isn’t ideal. But maybe other people love it still. It’s good music I suppose but you shouldn’t obsess about other people be yourself write your own story and music for your own life!!

Went to Pompeii 10 years ago on a sunny but cold day, out of tourist season. There were only a few people there. When I got to the amphitheatre, there was nobody there but my friend and I. So I lied down on the ground and started playing Echoes from my phone. It was amazing. Felt like I travelled back in time and had the concert all for myself. I was there for a while (but not enough to play the whole of Echoes) before other tourists showed up and I turned off the music and moved on.

I’m 15 and knew Pink floyd since I was a kid but never understood it until lately and i feel adictos. I see 70 year old people commenting here the same feelings I have and feel kind of out of place in my generation but yes, I agree with those who say this is the masterpiece of Floyd.

I'm currently a pre-medical student in the US. I'm beginning to prep for the big standardized test that is used as a criterion for admissions, which includes sociology and psychology as required knowledge. Within these fields, there is a topic known as socialization, which is the process of learning which behaviors, ideologies, attitudes, and habits are or aren't acceptable in your society and culture; this topic includes theories on deviance, which can be thought of as instances of not abiding by established social norms. Within the realm of these fairly broad topics, there has been research to show that many actions and behaviors that people perform and find enjoyable are learned from their life experiences and interactions with others; one famous example of this comes from a sociology experiment performed by H.S. Becker in 1953, where he interviewed a variety of marijuana smokers and found that they were "educated" into classifying the effects of pot as desirable and fun, thereby establishing a social learning/socialization component that contributes to our attitudes, behaviors, and beliefs towards certain things. Another example could be coming to enjoy a taste of a food or drink that you initially weren't fond of through others enjoying it and constant exposure to it. Nerd-speak aside, as I was listening to this performance (which I do very frequently) and reading some of your comments, I thought of how this performance is so authentic and invigorating that it requires no "learning" to understand how incredible it is; it just simply touches the soul and seeps deeply into the fundamental human nature that unites us all. I know for myself that whether the whole world loved or hated this piece of art, I would certainly enjoy it all the same, regardless of place or time; I'm sure many of you can agree with this, especially because pre-DSOTM Pink Floyd is a bit of a niche preference.
