So happy to see someone else quilting in the hoop with Nested Blocks, as opposed to End to End Designs. I just don’t like the 2 ugly ties on top of each other, that we see with End to End QITH. I am hoping that most embroiderers will eventually see how easy this technique is. My technique is slightly different than yours, but it's also very similar. I also use a Ghost Template that I created in Embird Embroidery Software, and then printed on Template material using my Cricut Maker. Here is Part 9 of my Quilt in the Hoop series. It's on a Janome Mb4, but the hooping concept is the same for all machines. At 22 minutes is where I hoop the Quilt: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jcl7q8h20822qoU.html

Why are you starting at the bottom corner? Many videos starts the stitching in the top corner or centre.

This is actually a design I drew up on the mysewnet software for the machine. But I think designs by juju may have a meander design

How did you make the template? You just said "stitch out a template". Did the machine memorize the free-form stitching you did so it can repeat it over and over??

it's an embroidery design, so I just ran the design on a piece of mesh interfacing so I could see through it as a laid it on the quilt.

This is a really good tutorial. I did have a couple of things, though. You totaly could have used your J foot and done the overcast and seam at the same time to save sewing around the 2nd time, or what about the flat feld hem to keep everything enclosed and laying flat. I really did enjoy your video. You explained everything very well.

I've been sewing/quilting for decades, and I've watched a LOT of tutorials, and this one is very good. Love that you quilted the fabric first. Your voice is calming and you didn't overkill us with unnecessary jibber-jabber, you just got down to business. Well Done!! I got your pattern, (super easy) and I'm getting busy today! Thank you, and Happy New Year!

Do you starch fabrics before cutting? I wasn’t sure if it would be helpful or detrimental since we are sewing curves

Salve grazie per il video mi puoi dire se il filo della bobbina (il filo di sotto) è uguale al filo di sopra,oppure,hai usato un filo sottospola come quello che si usa quando si ricama? Grazie

Ugh! Hooping ANYTHING with even a little thickness can be SO difficult. I prefer magnetic hoops, and use them whenever I can.

Thanks so much. I will be making this soon. Have you thought about a spinning mat? It's challenging to cut upside down! Maybe some grips on the back of the template so they don't move while you cut? Likely all things you know. :)

I just bought a rotating mat, but I bet that will be helpful. I also heard of this spray called Grippy you can buy to spray the back of the templates to make them more nonslip. You can also get non slip stickers too.

I am a quilter, not a garment sewer so I do have a couple of questions... one is, can I draw the line longer than 30" to make this a bit longer, like say 32"? And, if I add two more inches to that measurement, I assume I just add two more inches to my line for the front piece, so instead of 27" as stated in the tutorial, it would be 29", correct? And last, can you tell me what batting you used?
@crinklyquilts2597
@crinklyquilts2597 11 ай бұрын
Sorry this response is so late. Yes, you can make that line as long as you would like. And yes, just change the front and back the same amount. I used Winline textiles 80/20 batting.
