“ I was a philosophy major with a minor in Romantic Languages “. 😂😂😂 And that folks is why thousands of young people are currently working in jobs that have zero correlation with their college degree. On top of that they are stuck with an insane amount of college loans that need to be repaid, thus the job at Radio Shack. College can be a wonderful and rewarding experience allowing you to maintain employment you might otherwise not get, however we need to stop telling kids that you must attend college and it will all work out in the end. That’s the wrong message to send. A useless college degree can be just as much a detriment as not having the right one.

It was their push to be a cell phone store that killed them. All it was about was pushing cell phones constantly. I loved the many years I worked there but I could see where it was going after my first year there.

@@ismaelcruz2148 Just a bar code. Nothing special about it. Super markets and libraries had been using it since the late 80s, early 90s here to retrieve the product name and price from the cash register system, or to couple the book on loan to the library card. Up to today, the supermarkets and many other stores still use it. My local libraries switched to RFID stickers in the books in the mid 2000s. Check out the wikipedia page on it. Development started even earlier - it started in the 60s with attempts to improve sorting freight cars for the railways. Very interesting.

Reminds me of the time my area's county issued and activated weather radios went off for a tornado warning when it was a flash flood warning. I can't remember if that mistake also caused the sirens to sound or not, but i kind of think they did. Sadly, this was before I started making KZfaq videos.

They forgot to include the back-stabbing, unscrupulous co-workers that look out only for themselves and try to forge records to make you look bad. Yes, this was my experience in RadioShack....all because I had extensive knowledge of electronics and sound equipment. Small wonder why they went bankrupt.
@rapman5363
@rapman5363 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I’m sure the incidents of one small store created the financial problems that brought down one of the leading electronic stores of the 20th century. Backstabbing and coworker malfeasance goes on at every place that employs humans. I think you are overestimating your impact on the overall status on company operations.
@jamesbullock9209
@jamesbullock9209 Жыл бұрын
@@rapman5363 Did I say that? Perhaps you shouldn’t put words in my mouth since you apparently never worked for the company or you would have understood what I meant. Saying I believe our store brought down a billion dollar corporation is absurd on its face, so I won’t even address that. My point was my experience was more widespread than you think and after a while, it translates to bad business decisions. Our store was a mere microcosm of the entire company, so that’s why it didn’t surprise me that the company went under. Bad leadership always has consequences.
