Almost 8 years later and still find myself revisiting this masterpiece. Ever thought about attempting to beat this time with the new routes and exo skip? Curious if you think a sub 0:35 or anything close to 0:30 would ever be in the realm of possibility even with TAS

I have some progress made on an updated version, right now it's just about at Ice Beam and already significantly ahead. I suspect sub 30 is possible with my new route using several new discoveries since 2016... The problem is that creating a TAS is a massive time investment and I'm not as dedicated to TASing as I was when I was younger. I don't work on this project very often and at the moment it's hard to imagine finishing it before 2030. It's really stunning just how much faster this game can be, the 2016 TAS is certainly very innovative, but not very optimized. I would say :29 or :28 is my estimate for what's possible now.

I can't even begin to imagine how many strats have been unlocked with this knowledge now... Also yeah, the Chao is inside that little room under the weight. If you land on the wall, you can touch the Chao right away, but if you don't, you have to fall an extra couple frames to land on the floor, and then kick to touch the Chao. It saved like ~5 frames to land on the wall. ...but some mm warps don't give a gravity angle that let's you land when you touch it

We do the rng manipulation by delaying when we skip the cutscene that plays before the stage begins, so we do lose some time getting the best layout, but not during any stages (the layout also always saves more time than it loses)

No, cheatgamer630, this is legitimate. It is just a little more complicated than it appears. There are two different death barriers in this stage with a small gap between them. If shadow passes through the gap is won't die. You can see it used in the current Dark Story world record speedrun kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fM-ZZrKdycuzoHk.html
