i've learned never to trust the statements put out by companies on a member who is departing - the companies do not want to take the blame & hate and would ensue if it was revealed they forced the member out - you'll frequently hear them state that the departing member "wants to focus on education" - "wants to focus on acting" - "has health issues" - "wants out of show business" - (remember Bestie? formed of 3 EXID girls who were said to be focusing on their education - and a year later those 3 became part of Bestie - and were accused of lying - drawing a lot of hate that the group had to overcome - in fact - it was the company who lied) I'm a huge fan of Kim Sung Hee - she has the best singing skills i've heard in Kpop - it was sad to see her disappear - - there's fan video of her singing at a club - and at a concert - and she sang on the track of an album introducing a male singer - but these did not seem stir any interest - - my guess is that she was blacklisted - she may have left DSP (per a story Seung Yeon told on a tv show) - embittering them - consequently no other companies would touch her - KPop companies & TV shows & radio probably don't want to cross each other by picking up someone who offended a company i agree that Gyuri was stunning - and she wasn't a bad singer either - with Sung Hee gone - she became the best singer - but Kara never sounded the same when Sung Hee left - it never sounded as good - the musical arrangers knew that - and gave Sung Hee a lot of embellishment to sing - but did away with that when she was gone you were diplomatic not to mention Nicole's "rap" - she wasn't good at it but was forced into the position by DSP - she even had to write her own english lyrics - but she simply wasn't up to it "Secret World" is one of my favorites (except for the rap portion) - and became very popular - there were many video postings from various venues - - like the other songs with Sung Hee - they were worth it for her

I personally think it's fine to ship the members, so long as you're not bothering the members themselves with it 🤷‍♀️ They also definitely push that in the music videos, so even if you just shipped their 'characters' in the music video, it would be totally fine.

The vocal unit in charge of major singing, performance unit in charge of major dancing and hip-hop unit in charge of major rapping but don’t let the units be stuck on your mind though cos seventeen are all-rounders. They can all sing, dance and rap amazingly. Even to major extents, one might think the performance unit members comprises of main vocals cos their vocals are so outstanding.
