Your mention of pubs in your previous videos was really interesting and when I heard about this new pub one I thought you would be going into more depth on the pubs in those videos which I would have personally preferred. This video just feels like an advert for Vic’s London pub tours.

The long-awaited pop video. I must say, I have previously really enjoyed your other three videos. They are so informative and so professionally delivered. This one, however, although it is still very informative and interesting , has a much more casual feel to it and for me it’s not as enjoyable in its delivery. It doesn’t seem to flow as well, and there seem to be many stilted silences. It’s very good and really interesting to know about the pubs. However, it’s a completely different style to your previous videos which I preferred personally. I hope you will revert to you previous style of delivery. The style of this video being more casual is very prominent on KZfaq and does not stand out from the others which your previous ones did. Looking forward to more videos in the future.

i've drank in every pub you visited and in terms of interiors, the old bank of england is the most impressive however my favourite is the ship and shovell, terrific little pub and really good beer. i've made a note of the pub tour (i'm a member of camra and go to pubs in various areas primarily in and around london just to discover them) and i intend to pop along and join him. thanks for the video, it's very interesting.

Thanks. So many good pubs. I'm not a member of CAMRA but I picked up one of their free magazines in The Coal Hole recently and was surprised at the huge number of micro-breweries in London they mentioned. (Perhaps another video?).

Enjoyed the video very much, in particular David who is an admirable speaker; he's visualizing as he speaks, so it's easy to comprehend everything that he says. (Am assuming that the 2 statues in the courtyard are pointing the way to the bathrooms...after viewing the fountain, that is...just a joke).

What a fabulous video. Teenagers seem to learn so little of the heritage and history of our great city. Your video is clear and so well delivered and would be a great tool in schools to teach of our history. You should approach schools with it. I imagine if the school you went to is still around they’d be interested in showing their students what one of the pupils has achieved. Well done.

Thoroughly enjoyed watching these first three videos, Peter. Ive a new found passion for london history so really looking forward to what else is to come on this channel. If you did take requests, it would be great to see more about some really old housing stock and horses people lived, in particular around Bethnal Green, Spitalfields and Farringdon. 😊 Best wishes for the success of this channel. I used to be a Riverman on walk 7 along the new River (from Cheshunt Herts - Maidens bridge, Enfield ). We used to cut the Banks with scythes & had Barges full of clay to plug the leaking banks right into the early1980's. Fantastic job.

Sounds like a job with plenty of fresh air! Did you have a little hut for making tea and sheltering when it rained?
@mickymantle32336 ай бұрын
@@TheHistoryofLondon-PeterStone Yes ! The hut was along the towpath just north of Bullsmoor lane, Enfield. Right near to where the M.25 now cuts across. Quite understandably - the whole silent magic of the River went then - along with most of the nature in that immediate vicinity. Shame.

Phenomenal is truly the only word to describe this video! Never let it be said that there is lots of information out there on the New River and another video will not be interesting. Your video is really the best. Packed with information and interesting speakers. I have read Nick’s book on your recommendation and he seems a fascinating man. Rachel seems great too. So knowledgeable. You’d be great together doing a New River walk. The icing on the cake though is that I see that you have been contacted by one of Hugh Myddleton’s descendants. What an honour that must be. I hope they have given you just praise for your fantastic work. It’d be absolutely fabulous if they agree to do a short follow up video with you and impart some family history for us all to share. I watched your other two videos and really enjoyed them. This one though is in a class of its own. Videos of this calibre deserve to take you to Infinity and Beyond as the greatest new You Tuber in London. Well done!

Another interesting video. I knew nothing about livery companies until watching this. I like to watch with subtitles as I am of Spanish decent. Sadly you did not include your own ones for this one. I watched with You Tube subtitles and they are not great. No punctuation and not all words are properly recognised. For example the first reference to the work pewterers is not shown spelt correctly and what is shown is actually a swear word in Spanish. Amusing for me but probably annoying for those who need subtitles. I hope you go back to your excellent sub titles. Muchas Gracias.
@TheHistoryofLondon-PeterStone7 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comments. There is a difference of opinion on the sub-titles. I included them on the previous video but some people complained they are a distraction. I can't win!

Another fantastic video! A great explanation on what a livery company is. My daughter is called Katerina and my mother was born in Alexandria. As a small child, we used to celebrate Saint Katherine’s day with my daughter and we have a picture of Saint Katherine with the wheel. Watching the video reminded me of that. I also know the church in Saint Bartholomew’s hospital really well because I used to go there often when I was visiting a friend who was very ill there. So your video has brought back many memories.
