You looped the cable through the hitch receiver. It should never be hooked to the hitch receiver, it should be hooked to the frame of the tow vehicle. In the unlikely event that the hitch receiver falls off the tow vehicle, your method would not pull the breakaway pin.

You should have pushed on the arms to tension the awning before tightening the knows. Your way eill cause the awning to flap in the wind and eventually rip.

Good video for basic operation but skipped two very important steps. First is about the rafter arms. When opening the awning, before you tighten the black knob put some downward pressure on the outer end of the awning arm. Maintaining this downward pressure while tightening the black knobs will add tension to the awning fabric so it's not so loose and sagging looking. The second is an optional step about the awning arms, so they're not angled downward in the way of your freely walk under your awning from front or back of your trailer. Pressing the switch where the awning arm connects to the lower side of you trailer releases them so the arm can be swung outward, placed on the ground like a support post. The holes are there so you can stake then to the ground, keeping them in place which will avoid damaging the awning if things get windy. Doing this optional step adds one step to closing the awning cause you first have to clip the awning arms back onto the side of the trailer. Then follow the rest of the steps in this video for closing the awning.

Thank you for the excellent information! It seems as though a lot of people have the breakaway cable braided through the safety chains from the factory, which doesn’t seem like a good way to sell a trailer! Thanks for teaching me the appropriate way.

I've never had a ST tire blow out but have heard a lot of people have. I read somewhere that while P and LT tires are 'good' for 10 years, ST tires, because of the chemical difference, are only good for about 6. So I changed one of my trailers over to LT and will do so with the rest of them as the tires age out.

I own an ATC toy hauler and it is fabulous. It cost more than the others but it will long outlast the competition. The all aluminum construction is second to none. It pulls like a dream and is so stable going down the road. ATC gets my endorsement hands down.

"They picked up the phone".......its amazing just how many businesses fail to grasp the importance of this, i understand small business can get busy, at which point you have an answering machine that tells the customer that your very busy but leave a message and you will ring back. The amount of people that i ring and they answer the phone with "Yup?" Blows my mind also.

Had this happen to me today. Wanted to purchase a product that was fairly expensive. Called a place local to me during business hours, and no one answered. I left a message and no one called back. Went to another store who answered the phone and they got my money.
