How do you line up subsequent outers so that the inner snaps in in the correct orientation on an oval thumb hole?

That sounds like it may be a core compression issue. It happens on some bowling balls with all interchangeable thumbs. You may reach out to your PSO to help and if they have any questions, please have them reach out to [email protected]

At no point while drilling was the ball clamped down on the press, it was just sitting there, completely insecure... Then proceeds to use Acetone (a banned substance) on the ball, so now the ball is illegal.
@jopogrips7657
@jopogrips7657 3 ай бұрын
Acetone or rubbing alcohol is used on the inside of the drilled thumb hole to clean out the debris only. This will ensure the glue adheres to the outer efficiently. As the video does not show the PSO physically clamping the ball down, the ball is clamped down on the press as you can see on the close up shot at 0.28 seconds in.
@rkaycom
@rkaycom 3 ай бұрын
@@jopogrips7657Acetone is listed as a prohibited cleaner, literally listed as "NOT APPROVED EVER", it's not to be used on a bowling ball for any reason, at any time ever. Not even in the drilling process, there are plenty of other cleaners (like rubbing alcohol) that can be used to clean the ball for glue. You are incorrect about the ball being clammed, the ball is literally drilled without being clamped from 44 secs in until 2:17, during the entire thumb drilling process, no clamp.

Acetone is banned for the surface of the ball, meaning any surface that touches the lanes. It is also prohibited to "alter" the surface of the ball and also prohibited during play - not prohibited when cleaning the inside of the drilled hole. Many pro shops use acetone or rubbing alcohol to clean the inside of the drilled hole and we cannot control what is used, but we appreciate your concern and comment.@@rkaycom

@@jopogrips7657 Incorrect, Acetone is not approved at any time, never shall it touch the surface of or any other part of a bowling ball. It was originally banned because people use to soak balls in it to make the balls softer. Since then it is COMPLETELY illegal to use it on your ball for any reason, at ANY TIME EVER. That includes cleaning out thumb holes after drilling. Yes, lots of people do it but they aren't meant to be, it shouldn't even be in a pro shop, it's like having steroids at a gym. Argue as much as you wish. But thems the rules. I've never used it, never needed too, never had a problem with thumbs coming unstuck with a simple vaccum out of the hole and enough glue.

Couldn't recommend highly enough,as a bowler who struggled with the frankly abrasive feel of the turbo slugs which seemed to sand my thumb on the way out ensuring a glacial exit,switched to turbo outers and vice inners however finding a new problem,breakage of the outer These are amazing,nice quick exits all the time and i haven't had one fail on me yet,strong and slick A must have for any bowler struggling to get their thumb out

Very eager to try your system. You mentioned in the other comment that your stopper bit is longer than the competitors. If I were to bring an inner and outer JoPo to a driller that's using a Turbo or Vise 1.5'' bit, would the end result be poor? I assume more of the inner and outer would need to be cut down with the plug cutter after? I'm afraid that may be the only way I'm able to give it a shot. Hope that's doable! Also, would love to see you guys roll out some new colors on the inserts and slugs.

Hello Matthew, as long as the PSO adjusts the stop collar to our depth, it will work for testing purposes. However, if they plan to carry JoPo products, we suggest them to purchase a starter kit or drill bit to ensure repetition from ball to ball.

Made the switch to the JoPo twist in one of my older bowling balls recently. I only had a couple of issues in my 2 1/2 years of using the VISE IT system. No bad feelings against the VISE IT, but I feel the JoPo Twist is a better product. I will eventually over time, have the JoPo TWIST installed in the rest of my bowling balls.

Just curious because it seems with all the systems eventually the thumb starts to stick from ball shifting internally. Can the outer sleeve be sanded to free up the inner like the other systems?
@jopogrips7657
@jopogrips7657 3 ай бұрын
We do not recommend sanding the inside of the outer as the threads may be sanded down too much. PSOs have done it at their own risk though. If there is any ball compression, drilling out the outer and replacing it will do the trick!@@crashbang7217

After a four-year hiatus from bowling due to joining the military, I switched from the Turbo Switch Grip to the Vise IT. Then I learned about JoPo Grips. Experiencing looseness with the IT and seeing a piece of its locking mechanism break inside my spare ball is what influenced my decision to convert all of my equipment over to JoPo Grips after learning more about the company from these videos and on social media. I hope to see a handful of PBA players join your staff soon! Also, when I used the Turbo Switch Grip, I momentarily lost one of my slugs due to one of its pegs breaking under pressure. With all due respect to both of these major finger/thumb insert manufacturers, I hope I don’t experience this issue at all.

Good idea....looks like it secures well.....the hole already in the slug is not a good idea though. Just put through lathe and use centering bit to mark it for pso. Terrible idea in the idea you have a customer that wants to change pitches with a small thumb, you can get away with 1/4 in the turbo system without having issues or plugging, this would not allow that as you'd have an oval hole front to back towards the bottom if customer had small thumb. But does look like this idea secures the slug pretty well

Hello Tyler, thank you for your feedback! The hole is needed for the PSO to install into the ball. You can still change the pitches 3/16" in any direction as the hole is small enough!

@jopogrips7657
@jopogrips7657 Жыл бұрын
@@s_k_fishing7313 We do not recommend beveling the inner as the product is meant to be flush to the ball. The only way if you must do it is to round the inside of the inner so it is not sharp against the thumb. As far as our JoPo drill bit, we recommend all pro shops to use the same calibrated drill bit to ensure pro shop to pro shop repeatability. So if your local pro shop starts drilling more JoPo products, they should purchase the drill bit or starter kit!
