Now I just wish I could find exactly this as a headless bass, fretless and it would be literally my dream bass...if only. Unfortunately I am not smart or wealthy enough to make it myself otherwise I'd certainly try

The strandberg Essential is a fantastic lesson in “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” I think this will sell like hotcakes.

I wanted a Strandberg to save space and weight and this new series might be the one. They are so expensive but this one might do the trick if I decide to sell the one im using now for one of those...

this guitar to me feels like a split keyboard. i know for a fact that i don't need it to play well or comfortably. but i really want to try this guitar. it feels that when they designed it they new exactly what was required to make a good guitar with versatility and it shows in every review. too bad i am broke af right now :(

seems like the review process could include jack placement in phase 1 moving forward so you don't come home with crappy guitars.

I have Carvins from 1986 up to Kiesels from 2024....I was pointed towards them from my luthier back in the day. All instruments are absolutely perfect in every way possible. Immaculate construction and superb tones. Maybe the most value-for-money guitars I even bought.

I agree that multiscale makes less sense on a guitar than bass. If you want different tension, just change strings. A bass guitar needs a more even tones across the range, whereas the different tones among the strings is a feature of the guitar.

I mean how do you know that you'd sell it though never having played a j-artesian ?

After watching ur review i got one. But it has a huge problem, when bending the e string at 18th fret onwards and string will hit the next fret and completely mute it. The seller told me this isnt the first time this had happened and the other boden essential in their store has the same problem when he tried it. Wondering if urs does that as well

Would there be a way to have a Sustainiac installed on a Strandberg?

sure as long as you are willing to make the mods.

Your video about the eart gwpro2 was one of the few honest one I found on KZfaq,I really REALLY hope that you are honest (or that Strandberg did not send you an”especially” good one) cause my Essential will arrive this week and I’m tired of being disappointed by brands and youtubers! Take care!

I have to say both of these guitars are great. I played a H7 in a guitar center and while it was not the guitar I was looking for I was surprised by the quality. It was extremely good and at the time it was priced at $599. I would not be shocked if my next guitar was a Sire. You could probably by a T3 and buy the locking tuners for less than $100. Would have a great guitar under $500.

The Steinberger "R" type trem (AKA "Overlord of Music") has a number of advantages: headless for better weight distribution and ergonomics, hardtail lock, high ratio tail tuners, and thumb screw spring adjustment. the hardtail lock and thumbscrew adjustment mean tuning and spring adjustment take only about 5 seconds longer than tuning a regular hardtail. It also has the lock screw to lock all the saddles once adjusted. You can even install the bar left or right-handed, although they only come with right-handed bars. The first headless trem you showed is very similar - if not identical. Weight is the big downside, as its quite heavy, like a Bigsby. Another trem you forgot to mention is the muti-scale barrel tuner strat type trems, such as those made by Alcinov.

I have a Deluxe Brighton with SD mini pups. OMG. Never thought I'd like the minis but they sound SO good. Especially through my Supro Delta King amp. Another guitar you may enjoy is a Danelectro XT. It has a P90 in the neck and a double lipstick hum bucker w/coil splitting. I paid $400 for mine and it really has some killer tones.

This is a great review. I've been very interested in the Boden Essential since it dropped. You and I seem to have similar tastes in guitar necks, features, etc., so I feel that if you liked it, I should too. I do plan on getting one of these from Sweetwater. Seems like exactly what I've wanted all along.

Great video! I’m a Floyd Rose and Kahler user! I put Kahlers on both my Stratocasters along with the original behind-the-nut string lock. No matter how much I use the trem, it comes back to perfect pitch! The Kahler system is absolutely incredible!

Getting rid of zero fret and updating string lock design is really a great update. Really hoping this will be updated on the other models like metal nx and so on..... These models haven't been updated for years though they're sort of the main products of strandberg.😢

I'm very happy with my boden essential - curious if you will end up swapping the pickups over time on this one vs the other strandbergs you've had. It's not my favorite guitar but it's my most played guitar already, and I think if I could get some PRS 85/15's in there it might end up being my favorite.

It is truly a shame that Parker guitars is no longer in business. But it's very hard to deny the impact it has left on guitars to this day. The company is gone, but the legacy continues. Also, IMO Strandberg guitars are a bigger innovation than Aristides. Aristides basically took the Strandberg, removed the special neck profile, and made it out of a composite. You spoke about the Parker being a combination of many prior innovations, brought together in one instrument. I view the Strandberg in the same way. Each individual element isn't unique to Strandberg (except maybe the neck because of the patent), but it was the first one to combine ALL those things in that way. Still, the Parker is MORE innovative. Especially because of WHEN it was made.

Now I'm not the most tuned in to the latest indie stuff, but last I checked weren't they all playing strats? Not shreddy superstrats, regular old SSS strats. Metal guitarists have pushed the bounds of guitar technology to keep doing the 80s but faster, but if keeping with the times means making instruments for the newest kind of music, Gibson needs to make more 50s stuff, but Fender's 50s stuff instead of their own. It worked for PRS.
