Take em goofy looking things off, they make the plane look like a miniature toy anyway. The drag factor is really not that great, & has been debunked by many.

is the little spring at the end of the latch... in my 1959 172 was only misalign... but still i had to remove some rivets screws and take all and replace the long spring in the handle too.. find it in ebay... now is perfect
