What type of material is the track? It looks like a rubber floor but I would think that wouldn't be goof for drifting.

Hello. I'm a first timer. Where do I find the protective covering for the outside? Also, I've heard of guys sanding the surface to help the paint adhere to the body. What kind of sandpaper do I use and how hard do I sand it?
@Drift66
@Drift66 4 ай бұрын
The protective film is already on the outside of new bodies. I don't scuff my bodies, I don't think it's necessary. If you want to do it, just use a scotch bright pad and lightly scuff the inside. Just make sure not to touch the windows. You can't fix scuff marks in places you don't want them.

I mix in 1/2 cup of denatured alcohol for every 3 gallons of water. it makes the paint thinner and takes longer to set so you don't have to rush it. Turned out sick though!

You should try to spray some hydrodiping activator on the water first? Might help stop the paint curing to fast.

Can anyone tell me where to find that bmw body for an Arrma Infraction? I'd love to have one but can't seem to find one. I'm new to the hobby so I'm not sure if they make a 1/7 bmw body or I just can't find one .

Awesome! Thank you for showing this…! I scotch bright the inside of my body’s before painting it helps the paint adhere really good! If u have ever hit the body on a curb the paint may chip out…. If u scotch bright the body before painting it that will not happen. I do rc crawlers so the body’s take a beating… tricks of the trade..

Dude, this is fantastic. I do quite a bit of airbrushing myself and I airbrush RC bodies and I fade in and out different colors to get somewhat that type of affect never thought about the dip but you have mastered that beyond belief. I think I will try that with my next project. Thanks for the tip and thanks for the video.!

I've never painted an RC body before and I want to do something more than just a solid colour or a gradient fade. It's for a drift car. I think I might try this on some lexan offcuts first before moving to the actual car. I think blue and purple look great, but i'm tempted by red, yellow and orange, backed with lame flake first as I want the rainbow effect, then a bright silver.

It comes out better if you spay back and forth across the water and DO NOT STIR IT. The point is this is so all the paint sits on top of the water not mixed up in chunks throughout it

Looks cool but Idk man, to uncontrolled to be wasting the $30 in paint each body. Why not get actual Hydro film ?
@Drift66
@Drift66 Жыл бұрын
If I like how it looks, is it a waste? Plus, I don't use a full can per paint job. So i can do multiple bodies per can. Hydro film is even harder to apply on the inside. In my opinion, it looks terrible anywhere that's not a flat surface. To each their own.

It works better if you first off spray a light base coat on the inside of the body, like how you’d spray a solid color on any kind of clear lexeon body. This could’ve filled in the majority of the clear areas he still had after finishing his first layer of the dip. And spraying your color choices in a smaller paper cup including the same amount of clear in with other color choices. And If you think about this example as in a wax candle. Heat will melt it but when you put that still hot liquid wax into a cup of cold water, it instantly hardens back up and takes its forum. This procedure is kind of the same As in the cold water turns it into more of a film like layer. And that there is how you want the paint to forum into
@Drift66
@Drift66 Жыл бұрын
The problem with spraying a "base coat" is your car is now primarily that color. The first layer is the first one you see. So if you don't mind all your colors tinted whatever color you used, then yes, this would work.

Last time I did something like that was back in the 90's with my anthracite green e30 six inline (full MPower skirts, spoilers, suspension kit, exhaust and wheels... The real mcoy. Forgot to mention her beautiful eyelined yellow feline eyes. Oh Jesus she was a roaring beauty! And freedom was not just a word). One night, I drifted it around a roundabout and slided it right through the gas station nearby, perfectly parked. When I moved out, I didn't realize a special police squad was precisely already waiting there for some random reason. In a blink of an eye I got surrounded by I don't know, like 8 of them, handing machine guns right at me........ You wouldn't believe me after what I immediately did, they didn't even asked me my driving licence, and just let me filled her up and go. Wooohoooh! Memories there 😁🤘 instant sub! Keep Rock n' Roll alive! From an old mean fart.

Wow that was cool man! I think hydro dipping works well cause you paint rc bodies from the inside so it looks super smooth. When I watch ppl hydro dip game controllers or something they always look caked on and too thick. Nice video man!
