But I really don't understand why some people from Azerbaijan claim that Sina is Azerbaijani and try to take credit for him. Please respect Sina's nationality, as he is Iranian and proud of it.

However, I respectfully disagree that all it takes for someone to be Iranian is affinity for or knowledge about Iran. I believe Dr. Richard Foltz is an Iranophile, which is lovely and admirable. But nowhere in the world would he be officially recognized as Iranian, even if he identifies as one. You might agree that if someone identified as a cat, just because they knew about cats and loved them, it wouldn't make them one :)
