The problem with the interpretations that I see here on KZfaq is that they take lyrical texts too literal and always identify it also with the author, that's not how art works. Did also nobody had poetry interpretation at school? "the tears of 'very very old' children crowd" -> children who lived their entire life in sadness (in tears) "I'm pulling them on a white hair" -> White hair refers to them being old (or don't know anything else) and they all have the same issue / or they are all siblings / from the same mother "throwing in the air the wet band" -> The crying children with the same sadness together (wet band of tears) ... "no sun which shines for me" -> I'm in sadness, darkness, etc. "no breast had cried milk (for me)" -> no connection to a mother / also "cried" refers to lack of care for him, his mother never cried for him or was concerned for him "in my throat there is tube" -> he can only live with external life-support / he barely (or cannot) keep himself (by himself) alive, this is metaphorically not literally he has a "tube down his throat" "have no navel on my belly" -> had never a connection to a mother (he does not say "I have no navel cord", he never even did have a navel, does not know how it feels to have a mother) ... "conceived in haste without semen" -> wasn't conceived for the purpose of having a child (but for lust, rape, etc.) and has no father (no semen) "the mother who never gave birth to me" -> my "mother" was never my mother ... "I will giftt her a disease, and afterwads drown her in the river" -> pure hate towards her and decide to "drown" the hope for her to ever be my mother ... "In her lungs there lives an eel" -> everything she says is evil (and hurts me), her words are like an "electric shock" "on my forehead a birthmark" -> you can see how my mother has marked me (as person / my life) "remove it with a knife's kiss" -> she tries to apologize for her evilness with a (fake) "kiss" or make it better but it's like a sting from a sharp knife (dishonest and evil person) "even if I have to bleed to death" -> she makes it worse and does not care, or 2nd interpretation: I try to get from her love and know that I won't find it and get an evil poisenous response / put myself to danger but I can't do any different because she's my mother The entire section where people got the interpretation from a "clone" baby has maybe intentionally thrown in by the band to make more interesting interpretations, but I don't find them that interesting for the intention of the song. I think it's more important to keep a consistent overall interpretation to make it as an entire piece make sense. After all the song is called "mother".

Halfway through the video you looked like you were about to vomit. Imagine if you understood the lyrics. It's a song that makes me, the son of an abusive mother break down every time I hear it. It's about someone who feels worthless because he was deprived of the love of a mother. After all, you can't be worth shit if even your own mother despises you. Welcome to my life. This song is most beautifully done and the lyrics are pretty much the most poetic you can get out of the German language. But it is also deeply disturbing.

Slain is murdered, she didn’t jump out of a window. When sex is apart of a one’s job, a high level of ppl who don’t see you as a person or as disposable is a regular assurance. She had no other way and that happened.

In a sad way it's funny because I had the luck to experience these types of feelings first hand a few months prior to this album dropping and it was a balm weirdly as it opened my eyes to not being the only person to whom this happens to while also voicing the tangled emotions felt. But also to be more protective of myself instead of falling into the spiraling pattern shown here. With Bad husband many years later it gave words to the dichotomy of success in certain areas of my life but the burning shame of others. while still not having it figured out even if all parties are finally forgiven but it's harder to forgive oneself. On a side note i think these songs are very informative of the repercussions of actions & reactions. we never truly know others and how they can react to certain events.

I see you are a jazz singer. The wonderful thing about music is: there is beauty everywhere. There is quality music in a lot of different genres. Rammstein is great. But never underestimate our fellow Dutch composer Arjen Lucassen with all his projects he composed during 30 years of excellence. Watch the material from Ayreon. If you love good singing these projects will blow your mind. But a jazz formation like Snarky Puppy will rise all your hairs as well, for instance in their cooperation with the Metropole orchestra ( Sylva). So there it is.... There is something magic about music. It is addressing to a specific part of our brains. There is a connection to nature, to mathematics, to us..... Lets go on enjoying all forms of music that connects to us. It makes our life so much more worthwhile and joyful. Groeten uit Houten

Do yourself a favour, go see them live. I saw them a couple of days ago in Nijmegen. And a year ago in Groningen. It will take years to get new eyebrows 😂. What a fantastic show that is. From young till old, a lot of people love Rammstein, and for good reasons. It is quality theatre, with a lot of humour, flames everywhere, and fantastic music.

I love the emotional look on your face. And yes, that is what this song does to you. They don't just make goooood music. They perform Art. When this song was new, I worked as a sound engineer at the national pop radio station. The DJ played this song in the night. I asked him to play the song again right away. He was just as blown away like me and he did just that. Very unusual. A tribute to the quality of Rammstein.

Sorry, second reaction to your lovely reaction video. Like you, tears run down my cheeks. Till is such an exceptional Artist. My wife is not into Rammstein, but when I showed her this video she wanted to see it five times in a row. It is that beautiful and captivating. A couple of days ago I saw Rammstein live together with my two daughters and a friend. They blow your mind away. In the audience people from I guess 8 till 85. It appeals to all ages. The atmosphere is just great. A security guy told me that metal concerts are the best gigs. A friendly, well behaved, enjoying their time, huge crowd. Even with 60.000 people gathering everyone seems to thorougly enjoy themselves. And the rain was pooring down heavely on us. It did not matter. We were at Rammstein. Nothing else matters 😉

The beauty of Rammstein: it's not just good music. It is Art capital A. They blow you away with heavy songs, They get you crying with sensitive emotional songs, with gorgeous melodies. It is Theater from the highest quality. Their videoclips are better than Hollywood blockbusters. And their live shows are a not to be missed experience. Their pyro's , their backdrop, everything is the best of the best. Like we did not forget about the Beethovens and Mozarts from the past, I can only hope Rammstein will still be remembered in a couple of hunderd years to come. They really are from that level and fully deserve it.

There's nothing far-fetched about artificial humans who are not born, not made in the womb but in a machine. Such a thing is already in the experimental stage; it's entirely possible that there are already "people" existing that came out of those experiments. Perhaps this song is a heads-up about that abominable experiment.
