If that's a 2 wheel drive it would have to be an Edge or Sport model because it has torsion bar suspension , but it's more likely a FX4 like the stickers say .

Not sure why you would keep switching from 2 to 4x4? You guys are wearing out the mechanics that engage the transfer case. Ppl just leave it 4x4.

Not to be that guy but I own a S10 Zr2 4x4 needless to say the s10 Zr2 would blow that ranger out the water hands down. I lay money on it that if you let the ranger driver jump in the s10 and the s10 driver in the ranger. The s10 would make this not even look like a challenge wouldn't even be fair.

@@PetroleumJoelie Sorry man didnt mean it any type of way boe just was saying. cool vid either way i gave it a thumbs up. Why it been so long since u uploaded man keep some content coming so you're channel keep growing looks like you're truck vids pull in a good amount of viewers each time. Think if you did that with a little bit of commentary and some joking and teasing with the driers or the other people around think u would have something going man but keep it up ima. Wow sweet build. I recently just picked up a 2003 2.3 single cab myself. I’ve been babying it shifting at 2k rpm and 2.5-3k when “beating” on it. But you make it seem like these little engines are able to handle the abuse and I can start to be a little more aggressive with it? 74k miles on it by the way.

Petroleum Joelie good to know! At what rpm’s are you usually shifting at for around town driving? It’s my daily so seeing what I can get away with haha
@velociranger7891
@velociranger7891 4 жыл бұрын
Luke Scholey I have a 2008 ranger with the 2.3 also. I regularly shift at anywhere between 4-5k. The 2.3 makes peak power all the way to 5,250 so really you’re not even scratching the surface of the power band. Regular oil changes though, that’s the key.
@lukescholey5872

VelociRanger thanks for the info. And is it safe to accelerate aggressively up to 4K+ rpm or do you slowly build up to it and finally shift there? I’m also planning on throwing on some 33’s and regearing to 4.56 (currently 3.73). I’m hoping the 2.3 will be able to hold up to that long term..
@velociranger7891
@velociranger7891 4 жыл бұрын
Luke Scholey you can do both. Sometimes I’ll accidentally tap the rev limiter in first on a fast acceleration lol. And if you gear correctly the 2.3 won’t notice that you have bigger tires (your brakes and steering components will), it’ll be able to turn them more or less like stock. 4.56 seems pretty steep, I would use a gear ratio calculator to find the best gear ratio for you.

I building one of these also in michigan , I'm doing the rearend first as the leaf springs broke when when I loaded a can am 1000 in the back so I got new spring that have 6 leafs each instead of 2 and while I have to remove the rear end that is a 7.5 single spinner , I went to the junk yard and got a nice 8.8 for 100.00 but I'm rebuilding the whole thing and sand blasted it and got 5.13 gears for it and got 15×10 rims and so far they fit good and doing a 5 inch lift in the rear with 35,s and a 4 inch spindle with all new moog parts in front including coil spring and upper lower control arms with matching 33,s , do you have 10 inch rims and if so do they clear in the front with the longer spindles?
