Me at MBV's gig at the Electric Picnic in 08 "Oh, I've no ear plugs for YMMR. Oh well, I'll just drink all this booze first, I'll be ok." Kevin Shields: "So, you have chosen deaf."

I’ve always thought it’s impressive the band themselves actually still have any hearing when they’ve constantly done shows this loud
@therealcooterbrown2 ай бұрын
I read a quote recently from Bilinda and she said the band wears hearing protection when they’re playing. Still, I can only imagine how punishing that must be being right in front of the amps.

It was a great song. Too bad Neil flipped out with his faucci-love. Made me lose all respect for him. He could have taken his stand against iraq/afghan/syria, etc. But no, he takes his stand for big-pharma and the covid scam. Makes me feel stupid for thinking he was wise in my youth

Saw Spiritualized back in the nineties doing this during Cop Shoot Cop. Always thought it was a bit childish. I remember seeing a mates girlfriend sitting on the floor staring daggers at me because I was the one who wanted to see them.

Can you explain what this video actually is, because the concert didn't actually sound like this, did it?...
@izudu3 жыл бұрын
@@beaumill site sure; it's the section of the track 'You made me realise' where they would just create a complete racket of squall and noise. It is sometimes referred to as the 'holocaust section' or part. They would sometimes drag it out for quite a long time. It's fairly brutal.

I heard this from 'The Unloved (2009)' a few months ago, and it was driving me nuts trying to find it again. Managed to find a site that named it, and I felt stupid, due to the fact that I've listened to the album about 5-6 times. Lovely stuff.

I believe that the "thank you for calling" message is actually meant to play when the caller reaches the maximum record time, so that they know the machine is about to hang up. Always found it strange that it also plays after the call is disconnected. Maybe to also let the person screening know the machine has disconnected.

I was at this show. They handed out earplugs on entry but they were useless. It’s impossible to describe the scale of this sound. It was like being in a wind tunnel with a jet engine for what felt like an eternity. You go through multiple phases of distress then acceptance then resentment then a trance-like state. It feels like a physical, mental and emotional assault. I idolised this group in the early 90s, and still do, but I really struggled to cope with this. It ruined my ears. Still an immense experience though.

It is an eternity, I swear to god it was half hour which is just nuts I saw them two nights running and def didn't hang around for this shit twice 😂
