We appreciate your commitment to educating us about Ghana's laws. Could you possibly cover topics on workplace injuries, workmen's compensation, and employment denial in a future video? Thank you for all your hard work!"

Can a district court set aside an agreement signed during an arbitration or a mediation when one party complains that he/she was forced during a sitting? If no which court has the power to set it aside? Thank you.

Self representation to me isn't bad. Currently I've petitioned a district court for child access of my 3yrs 8 months son. The judge asked both parties to go for mediation and agreement we're made on access and maintenance in which both parties agreed and signed. The deponent's lawyer appeared during our next hearing claiming her client who is the deponent was forced during the mediation to accept the figure that we both agreed on as monthly maintenance. The judge then said to the lawyer and I quote ' was she on gunpoint before signing the agreement that we both agreed on'? She then ordered for affidavit of means from both parties. I then noticed that the deponent's lawyer trying not to be fair because the deponent was never forced to sign the agreement that we both agreed on during the 'mediation'. Moreover her lawyer fabricated so much lies during the hearing. I then decided to also go for a lawyer to also represent me. He appeared during the next hearing and requested the judge to enforce the agreement we had during the 'mediation' but the judge told my lawyer she has set the mediation agreement aside since the defendant says she was forced which I think wasn't fair because from what I know is whatever is agreed on during mediation is final and binding. The case was then adjourned to a different date. From this experience, if some judges and lawyers will be fair self representation wouldn't be bad irrespective on the little knowledge the individual representing himself in the court has. If there is fairness individuals wouldn't be scared representing themselves in court. Thanks to you and your panelists for devoting your time educating the public.
