My first musical obsession and hyperfixation as a child. We had a channel called RFD-TV and Pop Goes the Country re-runs would come on around 12 every day. I remember convincing my grandparents to pick me up from school early just so I could watch this performance, as many of Tanya's performances weren't on KZfaq at the time (this was around 2007-2008) We recorded it on the DVR and I watched it probably 20 times. Before that, I used to record acapella covers of her songs on cassette tapes and give them to friends and family members. I had my own little niche and I couldn't have been 5-6 years old. I'd sing Tanya covers wherever I could, including CHURCH lmao. Now when I hear Tanya's music it really just takes me back to simpler times and almost brings a tear to my eye. I would watch anything I could on Tanya, as well as find whatever music I could salvage. Mostly through KZfaq, Limewire, or CD's I would find a local stores (even found Get on My Love Train by LaCosta and LOVED it.) I had the covers of all of her records and tracklists memorized despite not owning any of her full studio albums physically until I was much older. Always hoping I'd come across a lost gem on the web. The fact that Tanya was a teenager during most of the 70's recordings was so inspiring and fantastical to me. To top it off, I loved story songs and nothing could draw me in like Tanya's vocals. Of all the country and outlaw country I grew up with, Tanya was always my favorite and left such a mark on me at such a young age. I'll forever be grateful. I'm 26 years old today and a struggling musician / music lover. My love of singing and songwriting can be traced directly back to this woman as well as Patsy and Loretta. Eternally grateful.

Pamela, very sorry to hear of Vicki's passing and offer you my sincerest condolences! I saw Dave and Sugar when they toured with Charlie Pride in the 70's and came to Adelaide South Australia! I've never seen a better harmonious group in all my life, they were simply amazing and I knew then that they would branch out on their own and reach stardom! I still sing most of their songs at karaoke entertaining our senior citizens ! I don't know if Vicki was your daughter or sister but she was a beautiful talented singer and the group basically fell apart when Vicki and Jackie left ! What a crying shame ,Vicki is in heaven and a better place now but I'll endeavour to keep singing and keeping her memories alive here in Adelaide ! I never got to meet her but I wish I did ! I'm getting on in my age (72 years young) but singing keeps me going , no family or relatives and I was an only child ! All my best and sincerest wishes and Kindest Regards!❤

I will twine, I will mingle my raven black hair With the roses so red and the lilies so fair And the myrtle so bright with it's emerald hue The pale and the leader and eyes look like blue I will dance, I will sing and my laugh shall be gay I will charm every heart, in his crown I will sway When I awoke from my dreaming my idol was clay All portion of love had all flown away Oh, he taught me to love him and promised to love And to cherish me over all others above How my heart is now wondering no misery can tell He's left with no warning, no word of farewell Oh, he taught me to love him and called me his flower That was blooming to cheer him through life's dreary hour Oh, I long to see him and regret the dark hour He's one that neglected this pale wildwood flower
