On my 15th or 16th Griffith in the last 50 years; and found that flipping the coach and chassis upside down is much easier. Please leave the chassis open as was done on the later TVR's. Also went from an.063" wall to at least an .095" on the 1 1/2" tubing gave more integrity to the space frame.

Part 1 of the Grantura restoration is the easy part......We are waiting for part 2. And, the car is definitely not a 59 Mk1. More a 61 Mk2

Hi. Me agaim We would like to do a follow up on your car, live a live stream (or recorded) feed for 7Spot. Drrop Jm |Gould a message on 7 spot ot me John Minion - I am based in the UK. We both bike engined cars, Jim a busa and me an R1, Am interested in your rear brake setup and the car is not one I know. You running 13 inch whells on that ? Standard Busa ?
@changent2 жыл бұрын
Hi John, this video was just a teaser and we will have more detailed videos coming. We're in the states in Texas and the rear of the car borrows from the same Merkur Scorpio available here in the states as the Ford Sierra across the pond. Rear brakes would be the equivalent of the Sierra Cosworth there. The chassis was developed by us and is massively strengthened vs similar cars - along the lines of the Australian chassis mods. Running 15" wheels. Yes, engine is slightly tweaked Gen II Busa. (LOL - cannot imagine needing more power - but we try) Might be able to work out a live stream in the coming months. Thank you and Jim for your interest!

I’m the owner of the red TVR shown in your video, if you have any questions about your restoration I will help if I can. It took me eight years to complete my restoration. It took quite a long time to figure out how to find the correct parts.

How are you progressing with the Grantura?

We are busy gathering needed parts for the rebuild. It's a slow process but more to come. thanks!

Hi. You just popped up so first I've seen this. Interesting project. I'm curious, are you going to bond the body back to the frame as original, or bond the floor to the body with recesses for the frame as the newer TVRs were built? Just in case you need to fix something later... Plus you can inspect most everything regularly. Good Luck with this. Great little cars.

We are still pondering the body mounting. More to come on that. thanks!

Hi Solo italiano -I see you have 2 Grantura - are you are member of the International TVR Grantura facebook Group - it would be great if you joined.
@tvrrich72022 жыл бұрын
Quite a project you have there. I agree with the other 2 comments, looks like a MK2 or 2a, the interior is MK2/2a as well as the exterior differences. Good luck with the restoration. I have a 2a and are doing the same
@changent2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes may actually be an early MKII

Hi would you like to join the International TVR Grantura Owners facebook group - there are a few owners who could help with your restoration. Search for the group and I'll let you join. I'd like to hear more about your Grantura - do you have the chassis number - this will help determine if is a Mk1 or Mk2.
@changent2 жыл бұрын
Thank you yes I will check it out - but will have to join facebook first... yes I am a dinosaur LOL May actually be an early MKII 7F18(X)
@robertpennington73852 жыл бұрын
@@changent Hi - all the comments are from members of the Grantura fb group, so it would be great if you can join. The 7/f/18x chassis number implies it is actually a Ford engined Mk2 from 1960 or even 61. Good luck with the restoration.
@nickshield2 жыл бұрын
Not saying the chassis is not a 1959 mk1, but body looks like a mk2 or mk2a because of the fins over the rear wheel arches and rear lights position
@changent2 жыл бұрын
Yes! may in fact be an early MK2 serial # 7 F 18(X) thanks
@geraldkunz59102 жыл бұрын
@@changent My Grantura is #7 FS 175, it's a MK1, but has also a MK2 body. There are some MK1 Granturas with MK2 body, mostly Ford powered. Robert Pennington knows more!
@changent2 жыл бұрын
@@geraldkunz5910 Yes I have chatted with D. Zumstein about this over the years and his take was that it was hard to say and the fender spears are not definitive. The title shows 1959 - so I have always tipped in the MK 1 direction.
@kenstrobel27652 жыл бұрын
@@changent The rear fender arches were Mk II or MK IIa for sure. It is easier to date the car with any of the electrical items, headlight switch, etc are all date coded
@kenstrobel27652 жыл бұрын
other dated items, windshield wiper motor, flasher, unit, etc. I have collected these items on Jomars and ealry TVRs and TVR was the inventor of just in time parts for the most part due to lack of spare cash
