Thanks Niko! 4-1 and 4-2 are two of my faves too. 4-2 lives rent-free in my head and on my stream… one of my highlight clips is beating NA NG3, and about 15 hours into the stream/ game, at 4am, I’m losing my mind enough to start making my own lyrics to it on 7-2………. Then proceed to beat the game that next attempt and almost faint.🤣

It took me decades to realize that this is a sequel to ninja Gaiden 1 and not 2 because he didn't fully realize his ninja cloning ability.

We've finally made it to the third entry of this tough as nails series, welcome to the revamp for Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship of Doom! Keeping up the tradition of thrilling and fantastic tunes, though often overshadowed by the original and Dark Sword of Chaos, this soundtrack still keeps up the energetic and cinematic feeling the NInja Gaiden series was becoming known for, with this entry being handled by composers Kaori Nakabai & Rika Shigeno, with Keiji Yamagishi returning as a Sound Director and contributing his well known "Twist of Fate", "Battlefield" and "Life Lost / Game Over" variations. Nakabai and Shigeno doing a superb job giving us more exciting tunes for this series, while unfortunately Stage themes are given the generic numbered titling (even in the official releases), they still kick ass with the sharper Drum samples used, and personally tunes like "Stages 4-1 & 7-1" & "Stages 4-2 & 7-3" being my favorite of the whole trilogy. This is a nice hefty OST, with Hiroshi Miyazaki returning as the provider of Sound Effects, and even giving us a nice VFX sample every time Ryu slashes, and all done under Keiji Yamagishi's brilliant Tecmo Sound Driver. As most probably know, the USA version was made purposefully harder by giving us limited continues and having us take higher damage compared to the Famicom version, already making the "Hard to Beat" Ninja Gaiden series even tougher than ever, but it is fitting and a worthy challenge for those already hardened by the previous two games, I would say play the Famicom version to experience and have fun, and play the US version for the difficulty challenge! Graphics are of course top notch with even more cutscenes from the deeper story, Tecmo really pushing the NES as much as they can with this entry, and despite the USA difficulty, this is still a worthy entry and the soundtrack is still to be highly praised as one of the best on the system! its a rare occurrence where i didn't get pissed off at dying even if it was super hard just for the fact that the soundtrack is so F****ing awesome. we never see original music for modern games anymore. i feel like the greatness of video game soundtrack ended at the 64 bit era.
