I have written an article on The Alsdorfs of Newburgh, that I am updating in order to offer better scholarships, and newer info. In research on the brilliant musical family, I came across Eileen Southern and her triumph Eileen Southern's The Music of Black Americans. What a read. In tandem with my research on the Alsdorfs, I am researching Francis Johnson. What a musical genius. What an innovator. A true hero in the anthology of the American Songbook, if not one of the seminal forces of that songbook. Ms. Southern's work has been so helpful.

Suggest you begin listening at 13:30 mark. If you think you might have missed something you can go back later.

But is it actually modernist? St. Hildegard is a doctor of the Church.

@@oraetlabora1298 will have to study this more just skeptical with the New Church making her a doctor of the church. To me St. Louis De Montfort deserved the honor a long time ago but yes my opinion.

As if Prokofiev’s inaction on behalf of the mother of his children isn’t astonishing enough it begs to question how a court of law could decree that a marriage arranged in Germany was not legal in Russia but when released from Gulag prison Mrs.Prokofiev was not allowed to assume inheritance of Prokofiev’s estate because she wanted to leave the Soviet Union?

I wonder why Simon's voice has changed so much since early manhood. Odd for a person of strong character.

Yes, space didn't allow me to include all the works you mention. That Simon Morrison, a well known Prokofiev expert, can make a statement like that is totally mind boggling. By the time Prokofiev was writing his supposed 'lesser' works like 'The Stone Flower' and the 7th symphony he was a very sick man and virtually at death's door.

I would also add the Piano Sonatas 6, 7 & 8 (and I know pianists who particularly admire No. 9, though perhaps I'm too superficial to be thrilled by that work), Violin Sonata No. 1 in F minor, String Quartet No. 2, and the brilliant re-working of the 'interesting' Cello Concerto into the masterpiece that is the Symphony-Concerto.

I think the statement by Simon Morrison in this interview that Prokofiev gradually lost the ability to compose after leaving Lina is frankly ludicrous. In the years after they separated and right up until 1948 when his music was severely censored by the Soviet cultural authorities, among the many extraordinary works he composed were the 5th and 6th symphonies, the ballet 'Cinderella', the Film scores to 'Ivan the Terrible 1&2' and the operas 'War and Peace' and 'Betrothal in a Monastery'.

'Anonymous in the hopper'...right up until that point where the abstract writers are unveiled for the final selections. Why is this video here? I don't get it. I don't think that it offers any insights into the field or the process, apart from the fact that the committee works hard (which I think we all knew).
