Hammer used atmosphere so much over actual blood and gore. It was very subtly done to great affect! 😮

A lovely man and also a very lucky man. Not only performing with the greatest British double act but also 30+ hard earlier, he appeared with the greatest comedy act of all time, Laurel & Hardy in "A Chump At Oxford". Another connection? Morecambe and Wise were huge Laurel and Hardy fans.

Yes, I totally agree, Chris Lee had handsome, aristocratic looks. Great smile, see him getting out of that car. Maybe somewhere down in his lineage, he belonged to royalty. I can visualize him as an emperor smiling and waving to the people from his balcony. Thanks for this wonderful upload. I am an unabashed Chris Lee fan. As well you know, I am also a humongous fan of Lisa Gaye and Kyle Hynick.

Christopher Lee quite often comes across as very fascinating but a little bit prickly/distant, so it's lovely to see here when he's completely loose and chuckling along with his best friend.

in 1973 Cushing already looked so frail, does anyone know if he was already ill during that time? did his wifes death maybe have something to do with it? maybe he had an eating disorder.
@hcu435924 күн бұрын
There's a lot of theories as to why he lost weight so dramatically in that period. There are references to him suffering from nausea in the 70s and not eating very much as a result. My own theory is that he became a much more aggressive smoker in this period, possibly to the level at which nicotine intake causes nausea.

The death of his wife took a toll on him. "The effects of his wife's death proved to be as much physical as mental. For his role in Dracula A.D. 1972, Cushing (who was 58) had originally been cast as the father of Stephanie Beacham's character, but had aged so visibly and lost so much weight that the script was hastily rewritten to make him her grandfather" -- Peter Cushing biography on wikipedia.

All class, talent, humor, and intelligence. Lovely human beings. They took us away from it all, they astounded us, the scared us, we went on terrific thrilling adventures with them, we admired them, they worked so hard and worked some more to entertain us, for decades. With their dedication I honestly wonder if their lives didn't prove that they actually loved all of us more than we loved them. I've adored both men since I was a child in the 70', and grown to admire them more as the decades have rolled by. They used their amazing gifts to tell us fantastic stories. RIP, most gentle of gentlemen. Much love forever, as we watch those films you gave us. Your elegance and excellence in your craft shines as an example to us all.

It is obvious that Peter Cushing was a wonderful, sensitive man; a true gentleman. You can tell this from his beautiful, soothing, velvety voice. I was born in Argentina in 1959 and grew up watching the Hammer horror films in the late 1960s. What a wonderful time! Learning English was the best thing that happened to me, as it enabled me to fully enjoy British films in their original language. Peter Cushing, like James Mason, turned the English language into a beautiful melody. Thank you for uploading this interview!
