Great video! So similar to you, if I already have a Roth IRA, but not a traditional, I just open a traditional and convert it to my already existing Roth IRA? So am I correct to say now my original Roth IRA does not have an income limit? Just a bit confused on an already existing Roth IRA prior to wanting a backdoor. And then now when I make future investments, after that initial conversion I can invest directly to that Roth IRA? Or do I need to do this conversion every single year? Thank you

If you want a derivatives strategy just do a derivatives strategy. I used to own a covered call etf but that's when volatility was high and maintained at a high level. I'd rather just deploy a short options strategy. When vol is low and jumps big an etf like this will suffer big losses. That's the risk. If you wanted to buy while you have a painted high volatility it might not be a bad idea but I'd just execute the strategy myself by selling put spreads in a small account it preforms better with less capital. It just requires some learning.

Yeah, about flat. I put together an iron condor on Berkshire because it was flat for days and a few days later, it decided to go up 6%- Doh!!!! Lesson learned, if a normally "flat" stock has been flat for some time, don't expect it to stay that way for a lot longer.

I’m confused with your buy to close and how your max profit then was $700 to wash your contract. You didn’t used the same premium or strike price in your max profit graph as you used in your buy to close model in possible outcomes right before the graph

I purchased the kindle version of your book and will study it. I am 62 years old and just started trading the wheel this last Spring. I’ve kind of found it difficult to find stocks or ETF’s that require small amounts of cash reserves to trade cash secured puts. The closest one I’ve found so far is NÉE, but haven’t traded it yet. I’ve done XOM and have a couple of open options on TQQQ, which I don’t feel comfortable with at the moment. I’ve worked on ETRM systems since 1997 and have a fairly good understanding of trading commodities, futures and stocks.
@scottamolinari11 күн бұрын
So, part of the wheel strategy is to also deal with the underlying stock. So, say you sell a covered call and the stock (and the market) starts to sell off, you sell off your stock. Then you start selling puts to get the stock at the lower prices and at a discount. If the stock and the market sentiment is still bearish and going lower, you roll the short puts down and out. So, when the stock is at the bottom and seems to be going up (ending the bear market), you close your puts and buy the stock. Then start selling covered calls again. In other words, timing puts and calls just right to get assigned isn't the goal at all. Buying and selling the stock along with short calls and puts is to optimize gains, especially when a stock is stagnant. The wheel strategy includes buying and selling the underlying stock.

I think this is my new favorite instructional channel solely for how straightforward and serious you were around the 16:20 mark. So many channels brush over the risks and downsides because they know people are tuning in just to become millionaires. This is the first time someone was completely realistic with the answer of "then you lose, it's not rocket science, try a better stock next time". Inspires a lot of confidence that you're truly here to educate and share your knowledge rather than push hopium for subscribers. Thank you

So when you buy a leap, the computer thinks you have 100 shares of the stock? Covered call is easier to understand
@BradFinn18 күн бұрын
*leaps No, a computer doesn’t not think have 100 shares. The market knows you have 1 options contract.

Brad, when you roll up and out a year aren't you giving back the capital appreciation you have earned and raising your cost basis? I have this argument with my 89 year old Dad all the time, he's rolled out to January 2026 on some of his calls. Thanks for the videos
@BradFinn20 күн бұрын
Maybe I’m not following you correctly, but by rolling I lock in more capital gains if the call is assigned. It’s not effecting the cost basis of the shares becuase it’s a contract. And if the pulls back you will get all that added premium back. For example I started a nvda call at $1.03 credit. Had to roll up to $10.00 and then the pulled back expired that call worthless.

great video! Just started to trade options couple of weeks ago and made some good gains (20%-100%). I like to view Tiprank and find most active stock options, and within those id go with good stable companies with good PE ratio (dividends too). then i like a delta of .5 to .8. I pick ITM calls or deep ITM, and purchase 1-2 contracts per day with expiration date 1-2 weeks in the future.

I disagree, the goal is to sell time short and expensive, and buy it long and cheap. You should never allow a.short to expire.
