how can you explain this ? maybe there is an subconscious mecanism by which we ignore the incomprehensible and stick to a comprehensible version of events...we block out and lie to ourselves without our conscious awareness being involved

A similar "experiment" happened to me near the Louvre. And after staring at the map and trying to help with directions, I noticed some swapping happened - not the group of youngsters asking for help but my wallet.

Fairies do exist...just not visible to all. Each time that someone denies their existance, one fairy dies.

Magic, adventure, wonder, imagination, and excitement. I love those fairies. I shall never forget, or Elsie Wright and Frances Griffiths. Fairies, pixies and sprites are real.

I've analysed this extensively and I have realised that it is much easier to spot the change when a) you know there is an experiment going on, and b) you are watching it on youtube and you can see what's happening behind the painting.

Sweeping Generalization (logical fallacy). Taking a particular example of "wrong doing" in a certain matter and then inferring the conclusion that all doings related to this matter must be wrong. It's like showing that there is a lot pf fake "gold" jewelry, therefore all jewelry in the world is fake.

Majority of people in the comment section do not understand the experiment. The person swap experiment is about attention which is under the subject of cognitive psychology. The commenters who said "they noticed it but didn't bother with it" do not understand the specific phenomenon here and in actuality, most could have not seen it. This experiment makes use of the technique called "change blindness". Change blindness is when a blank intermission occurs in between two images the visual pathway is viewing. For example, when looking at a busy building complex as the first view and finding the differences with small changes in the same building complex in the second view, attention utilizes motion comparison to see if there are any differences. However, a blank intermission would disrupt motion comparison, thus forcing attention to identify any differences by looking at the same spot those differences due to memory constraints. The experiment utilizes change blindness with that portrait intermission. It is not merely a distraction. It uses the technique of change blindness to disrupt motion comparison, thus forcing people to only notice a difference through intense visual capture which is not usually possible.

I liked it, but thought the ending was slightly weak. The last appearance of a ball in the hand, we had already seen that twice. It's difficult to beat the final loads under cups as an ending. Maybe a multi sponge load would have been a fitting end to the sponge segment.

I definetly believe in the power of sugestion but im gonna put this experiment in a test. I will make it in a social experiment way to see how many people fall into this. Because admit it, theres a chance that just 3 out of 10 fall in this but they just upload what the want.
@jackdanila98933 жыл бұрын
This is not something to replicate. What tactical advantage you have on doing this? On what goal? Even if 3 out of 10 fall it's stupidly high for a person to not notice the swap between 2 DIFFERENT PEOPLE.

So THIS is supposed prove astrology wrong? I’m amused. With drawing your hand and putting a personal object also? That’s mysticism which is nothing like astrology, for starters. Believe in astrology or not, you HAVE TO KNOW that astrology’s at least based on stable data. It’s not a psychic prediction, but a foresight of either the future or personality BASED ON that DATA, it’s not coming from your “fortune teller’s” feelings nor “psychic” abilities. Now also reading the text he’d given, you can see that there’s actually nothing personal nor specific at all, it’s a text of inner confliction, full of “you’re this but that”s, which can suit anybody since human psychology’s all about that. That inner confliction also, that he particularly intended to put: separates you from society with your “flaws” which is THE MOST flattering making you feel differently smart, that can fool everybody. Smart! This sure can prove and give us insights about Barnum/Forer effect yet nothing about astrology’s validity. Again, believe it or not, astrology is not flattering at all! Astrology’s not general at all! That is pop-astrology which‘s been narrow minded psychologists favorite tool to make fun of for decades. In short: Good example of Forer effect. Astrology in the title tho? Clickbait. (I’ll share the text below, see for yourself.)
