HAHAHAHA NOPE! just played this 95% accurate game against a +100 player, trying to claw back up to 1700+: *1. e4 d5 2. d4 dxe4 3. Nc3 Nf6 4. Bg5 { D00 Blackmar-Diemer Gambit: von Popiel Gambit } Nbd7 5. Qe2 e6 6. O-O-O Be7 7. d5?? exd5* (-2.1) *8. Nxd5 Nxd5 9. Bxe7 Nxe7 10. Qxe4 O-O 11. Bd3 Nf6 12. Qe3 Ned5 13. Qf3 Bg4 14. Bxh7+ Kxh7 15. Qd3+ Kg8 16. f3 Be6 17. Ne2 Qe7 18. h4 Rad8 19. Qb5 b6 20. g4 Bd7 21. Qc4 Be6 22. Qb5 Bd7 23. Qa6 Nb4 24. Qc4 Be6 25. Qb5 Nxa2+ 26. Kb1 Rxd1+ 27. Rxd1 Rd8 28. Rxd8+ Qxd8 29. b3 Qd1+ 30. Kb2 Bxb3 31. cxb3?! Qd2+* (-7.5) *32. Ka3 Nc1?!* (32...c5!! -37.3) *33. Ng3 Qd6+??* (33…Qa2+!! 34.Kb4 Qxb3# I considered the check, but was worried about losing initiative and was trying to simplify. Looking at it after the fact, even if I missed the mate, i could x-ray white's queen with the check) *34. Kb2 Qxg3 35. Kxc1 Qxf3 36. Qc6 Qxc6+ { White resigns. } 0-1* (37. Kd2 Qf3 38. Kc1 Ne4 39. g5 Qc3+ 40. Kb1 Nd2+ 41. Ka2 Qxb3+ 42. Ka1 Qb1#) von Popiel didn't win today. i eat other gambiteers up because THEY're playing MY GAME. it's pawn pushers and hypermoderns that get me. that, and the best way to refute a gambit is to accept it

Have you ever looked into b4 as a response to the Busch-Gass? I’ve been analyzing it, and it looks interesting.

not my style. I did TERRIBLY with the 3.Nc3 BDG and switched to 3.f3... the gedult BDG because i did so much better with it as I'm a die hard f7 attacker. I don't do good in ANY line that plays knight to c first except the smith morra

Dear FM Graif , nice games, and thanks for sharing so many great ideas for so long. In your rapid game at 1:32:35 black had a nice forcing mating attack with Qb6+ that could EVEN have played out as a spectacular Philidor mate (smothered mate). It amazes me that it did not happen. WOW! And your opponent deserved to lose that game, even though you were so down to earth in regards to the out come. The chess deities do not forgive such transgressions. Missing a Philidor mate is an ultimate sin. (However going for Philidor mate is not the most accurate solution, as there is a faster mate by playing Nd1+ instead of Nh3+).

This one is loaded with ideas in the Busch Gass accepted. Really helped to fill in my understanding. Think I've watched three times now. It's only been out 3 months! Thanks for always explaining things so well. It's difficult because it's complicated at my level.

At 16.00 Nxe4 is very nasty. .....Bxb2 doesn't work, for Nxf6 is with check

This is a pretty interesting idea! I'm a gambiteer myself, and I was amused to realise that the starting position of this ...f5 busch-gass may also arise from the latvian gambit by transposition. After the moves 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 f5!? 3.Nxe5 (best move, though not the only line) 3...Nc6!? (the Fraser defense, deviating from the usual 3...Qf6, where Black may regain the pawn at the cost of falling behind in development; hardly what a gambiteer wants) 4.Nxc6 (4.Qh5+ leads to very wild complications, so much so many grandmasters have advocated against entering such line from the White side) 4...dxc6 5.Nc3 Bc5. Thought you may like knowing about this as well!

12:39 I was really hoping there was the rook sacrifice followed by the same pattern checking king with light square bishop on g6 to fork king and queen with knight on e6! Their idea was still killer though 👌

19:31 no no no. You don’t play Nf3 there. You sac the queen and plays Qxe6+. If they take the queen you checkmate with 2 bishop. If they block you at least have Nd6+ then take on f7 with one of your piece.

No need to be sad. If you follow the upcoming recommendation, you will checkmate most of your opponents in (literally) 10 moves
