I used to work with a guy who right now is in his late 80's that used to be a prison Guard at that old jail in Newark, and the old Essex Annex in Caldwell. The Newark jail was closed in the 70's because of terrible conditions, a portion of those inmates were moved to the Caldwell annex, then after that closed, most of Essex inmates were housed in what is now the Leroy Smith building, they even still have cells in the basements of the courthouse connecting the two buildings. Now the old Essex jail houses homeless, drug addicts etc..

Noticed a lot of younger people commenting on Millville. I grew up there 20+ years ago as did my Dad before he passed away. Basically it used to be a glass factory town for a very long time before most companies moved overseas. When that happened, Millville was sunk. So when I grew up it was a "has been" town and that's all you'de ever hear. Apparently a very safe, very nice place to live until the 1970s. There was an attempt to revive it in the early 2000s though. You still had the older WWII generation folks living and spending money in town. Some nicer restaurants like Winfield's popped up in the Arts District but closed down later on. However, there are a few local institutions that are still around like Jim's Lunch and Queen Diner. The track also helps the local economy. Other than being pretty good at football, the local schools went to crap in the 1980s and havent recovered since. Parents that can afford to send their kids to private school. That being said, the town has largely changed generational hands. People looking for cheap housing have moved in. People with no cultural interest in northern NJ have moved in. And gangs have moved in. It's really gone downhill as crime has risen. Overall do I think it's "ghetto"? It depends. If youre asking anyone 35+ years and older they'll say it went downhill even from a "has been" town. If you ask someone 75+ years old they'll say it's beyond saving. People that just moved in might say its safer than Newark or Camden so they're ok with it. So its about perspective.

Holy crap, what are people Shamokin' back east these days?! looks like Pennsylvania is doing worse than Michigan! Lol. Have you, or will you do a vid on the good parts of the state; or, are there any?what's Lancaster/Conestoga like? Is it nice, or just as ugly with a nasty gruesome history?

In my opinion to be a hood a area has to have at least 6 shootings a month in the neighborhood all these neighborhoods got like 10 shootings a year even less that’s nothing to be a hood there has to be a high chance of you being a victim in Chicago hoods there’s a shooting every day that is a hood they talk more than they do out in these areas

It’s not just crime that makes an area really bad

Not only New York City stinks. Watertown New York driven through their disgusting crossing the border into Canada. Very rude people.. and your highways are disgusting. Litter and potholes everywhere. I live in Savannah Georgia love it here.. you can keep stinky New York. And please keep your New York bad attitudes out of the South.. we don't need it here.New Yack...

Drew does have a police department. The school that was burned was the old high school. There is an elementary and middle school there but the high school students go to Ruleville Central High School. Wish you could have found someone to show you around and tell you the story of Drew.

Discrimination at its highest level?
@drewr511912 күн бұрын
They discriminate everyone who is not Hasidic Jew.
@chatisawasteoftime13 күн бұрын
Guy really doesn't know what he's talking about. Hasidic Jews pay an exorbitant amount of property taxes for which they get nothing in return, nor do they have their own police department. They have their own community patrol, privately funded. You should educate yourself before you spew nonsense.
