@@LifewithKenyata yes ma’am, I think you and the hubby will really like it. Lid’ls is Aldi with just more options and it’s double the size of Aldi to shop in. Plenty of name brand as mentioned. I don’t know of Lidls having a recall on produce, which I’m assuming since they are technically the same as Aldi. Take care and enjoy the rest of your week

There's just a massive disconnect. We feel it. They dont. Not to be a "Judas," and spend other peoples money in my mind, but heres an example from my own life: I have a wife and two children. We live within walking distance of my parents. I grew up fairly independent (moved out at at 16, of my own will.) My mother insists she wants to "help" me, my wife, and my children. I rarely asked for anything, except help with bills a few years ago. Currently, I am financially struggling due to nearly 3k of emergency expenses happening all at once. Tree fell on the house, had to get tree removed, have to patch the roof, have to get new glasses (mine broke, and I'm not technically legal to drive without them), have to replace a section of floor in my home, and replace the entire plumbing system of my home. All of this needs to happen in the next ~3 months, while also affording to feed a breastfeeding mother and a child; and our food cost have doubled in the last year, thanks to inflation. My entire adult life has been financial hardships, so I'm not really stressing; but I cannot ignore how diluted my (boomer) family is. I informed my parents of the financial struggles we're enduring, and their response was pretty much "wow, that sucks. We we could help, but we're financially struggling too." Then they buy a 2024 truck, and a new side-by-side within two weeks of telling me they "are struggling." I can suffer; but I cannot live within a lie.

Also, to note, I possess the skills to fix the roof, floor, and plumbing. I do not possess the finances to buy the materials. Im already getting a "huge discount" on doing the labor myself; but even then, materials are expensive.

I went into the army, spent entire nights on how to not fucking do this bs work anymore. Saved nearly all my paycheck. Got out, went to college, got paid to go to college. Started investing. Did really good. 28 now, can afford to retire. I owe it all to Big Dick Rick (tm) and his amazing 6 course work program that taught me to not be poor. In all seriousness, people lack financial education. Nearly all the people at the store where I work for fun, have zero idea. If they know something, it's because they got it from their parents. Otherwise they are screwed and waste money. One of my employees told me he literally doesn't know where his money goes. And these are hardworking people, they just don't know the value of a dollar at all.

As a fellow student of history; it's baffling how proportionatly screwed we are. Sure, we have common access to the "luxuries" of our time, but when you adjust that proportionately to historical time periods... yikes. People can't fathom how thrown under the bus we are, because their brain gets hung up on "well, our ancestors didn't have electricity and the internet, and we do, so therefore we're better off." Adjust. Proportionatly. Please.

Mainly, we are not taught financial freedom tactics because that’s not how our economy is set up. The uneducated are the base of the pyramid that pays the bulk of society’s income. To keep the majority just barely well/healthy enough to pay medical, bills and do low end labor/stressful jobs for the upper classes. If everyone was educated, our current economy would collapse. So, the only way out is through knowledge. Please encourage family, friends and children to seek out how our current economy system works and how to grow from it. Debt doesn’t need to be the only way to learn.

Personally, 9-5 jobs- Stresses may not be you fault and you have little control over most aspects. Business owner- More stress but essentially is tied more directly to your achievements and failures. So you can take on more or less depending on your emotional ability at that moment. Having more control over the stresses you take on, changes the dynamic considerably. In comparison to you doing your best, but others dropping the ball and making your position potentially miserable.

Imagine the 18-year-olds who have no idea what they're signing up for are taking out these loans because people they trust are promising that this is normal and everyone does it and it's doable... The fact that schools don't teach basic financial principles and send them out into the world like this and then say " but you took out the loans, that was your choice" Is extremely predatory. These poor kids don't even have a chance.

Just go look at the profit margins and the actual gross of most companies nowadays. It's actually more than double what it was even 10-15 years ago, meaning they are making that much more money per item being sold. Did your wages increase by 50-100% to match the amount of money these companies are bringing in? Hell no! It's not that people DON'T want to work, it's that the jobs simply don't pay enough!

My husband and I were barraged with the "you're just lazy/entitled/spoiled" for years until he entered into law enforcement and then they turned on to just me being all those things because we haven't had 5+ kids by now (we've been married 10 years, 11 this year). When we tell them "We can't afford to have kids" we get "That's just an excuse lazy couples use" or "It's not THAT expensive to have kids! OR do you actually not want them? Why do you hate kids!?" even though we tell them "We WANT KIDS. WE CAN'T AFFORD APARTMENTS AND KIDS" then it's "Then get a house!" and the cheapest house requirement is $4000+ monthly income plus some other fees to qualify. Sure my husband makes a comfortable wage now, but he didn't get his raise that had been promised because our state wasted the entirety of the budget, so we had to hold off again. We had both grown up in Miami, and the CHEAPEST apartment was 2.9k per month, we had to move out because it's impossible. Then our families want us to move back when no one could help us, like you said, the sense of community. We are also taking care of my mom who ended up needing emergency heart surgery due to an undetected condition a good portion of her life. It saved her, but it left her without the ability to work, and her doctor says she doesn't need disability because she can still move around and is healthy enough, but she CANNOT WORK. So...The income for a kid goes into also helping mom out with her medical insurance. Yeah. I lost my job where my boss berated me and treated me like an idiot primarily because I am a woman, and sure I learned a lot there, but nEVER AGAIN. Then applying to other jobs all were met with "oh we already filled the position" even though they left the listing up. And these Boomers that I used to respect would look at me and say "there's jobs available, but I can't give you a job because I want you to 'experience the real world first' meanwhile we were in the red prior to my husband's current job. It sucks. IT ALL SUCKS. And yet when we want minimum wage increased, or better job environments, nope we're just entitled and lazy. We're all so tired... Oh and don't get me started on how much I'm looked down by everyone because I decided to become a freelance artist. Being a Millennial sucks, everyone hates you just for trying to survive; I sympathize with Gen Z, and onward. We need change, but whenever we push for it, we're punched back down. It's so tiring, it's so exhausting, and that's why we just cope with funny internet memes and videos. We all just kinda gave up.

Actually it's wrong the 'older' part of the Millenials from the end of the 80's are actually doing great and better then the Boomers. Me for example i do way better than my parents. Bought a house in 2015. I have a regular job, Bachelor engineering nothing special. I now have cash Tesla, and LTV of 50% on a freestanding newbuild big house. My parents had a tiny house, had to work hard both of them for that. I own a huge house, cash paid Tesla and all did it by myself being single. Millenials are richer than Boomers... but probably only the older millenials from the 80's.

One of the primary reasons we dont have wealth is because inflation due to constant unrestricted government spending. The government can no longer pay back its loans so inflation snd devaluation of the currency is the only way to pay them back. This means assets soar in value and the dollar loses value. It also makes it harder and harder to get these assets. The other half is the simultaneous push towards advanced AI and automation. As inflation wrecks the market, AI and advanced automation also monstrously decrease the value of LABOR which is one of the primary mechanisms of being an employee. Both of these combined is insanity.

Gen alpha on the other hand got given ipads as kids with complete functional apps that just need 1-2 clicks, and have absolutely no idea how to troubleshoot computers, install apps, or even go through computer files. THEY are the most broken imo, since corporations have commercialized absolutely everything to make them consumers from as young as possible.
