I'm curious if this teacher keeps the Sabbath and observes God's instruction/law? If not he also does not understand the Bible. If he does keep the commandments of God that is to his credit and evidence that he is a true teacher of God's word.

Jesus is comparing the Torah to the Halakah of the Pharisees that continues after 11:30 in 12:1-8. The Torah is light compared to the heavy burdens of additional rules (Matthew 23:4).

@@WalkingTheText Thank you so much for the recommendation. Dr. Imes is AWESOME !! I saw a pod cast about that book where she shared some insights about what it means to be made in God's Image. This is a good reminder to add that book to my list of readings. Hope to get to it some time soon. Is it written at a popular level?

@@KevinSavedByGrace It is. In fact, I'm pretty sure Bearing God's Name is the popularized version of her dissertation. So worth the read.

I've enjoyed these out of context Bible studies immensely. However, I think you got this one wrong. I do not think that a man who is dying a painful death on a cross is going to be remembering to quote scripture verses to prove who he was. It is more likely that the events that occurred on the cross for predicted or prophesied in the Psalms of David. I still believe that God had to turn his back on Jesus while he was on the cross since he had put the sins of the world upon his son and God cannot be in the presence of sin. Jesus felt the father turn his back on his son when he placed the sins of the world upon his son.

I have heard both interpretations: that God's Spirit had abandoned His humanity and also that Jesus was quoting Psalm 22. You are right to say that Jesus was God. A Spirit can't die, so he took on a human body so He could pay our debt in full! Jesus said in John 5:39, "Search the Scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me." I appreciate your desire to search the Scriptures. May God give you further revelation of Who He is as you study His Word. One God. No trinity.

Ever read the origin story of Sargon the Great? EXACTLY like Moses. A thousand years earlier. Same with the Sumerian flood story doves and all. Esther = ISHTAR. Dionysus turned water to wine and even Julius Caesar was said to cure blindness with magic mud. A little education cured me of decades of suffering my childhood brainwashing with toxic religious hogwash.

🤯🤯That bit about Judas calling Jesus rabbi rather than Lord really blew my mind! It just shows that though we can think we’re fooling somebody, Jesus can sniff through our pretense & can see whether our hearts are devoted to obey him or not. And even if we do call him Lord, if we don’t do what he says, he’s really not Lord at all

Brad I am beyond grateful God led me to your channel as I was seeking to learn about 1st century discipleship. Thank you for all the prep done in secret and for using the gift the Lord has given you to teach us and showcase his beauty all the more. As a fellow teacher and lover of the scriptures, this not only affirmed the preciousness of my calling but is igniting a deeper understanding of Jesus that makes me love him more. THANK U!❤❤

Hi! I'm new here. I love the breakdown, thank you. This verse has always been a staple for me as I find myself clinging to it when going through darker times in spiritual growth. It reminds me that regardless of what things look like, God cares enough about me to have my back even though I may not understand what or why I'm going through. It literally gives me hope that God's heart is for me when my situation or thoughts may be trying to tell me otherwise. New sub!!!
