So basically this is a Berkyland Eyed Reactor and you are producing a low concentration of Nitric Acid. So a neon sign transformer, an aquarium air pump, electrodes and a reaction chamber and you could make a crude machine for a few hundred bucks. Might not be as efficient but there are plenty of KZfaq videos on making these.

Something like this is needed in Effingham county Illinois. Our soils are tough to no-till. We are always waiting for ground to dry.

Don't know if you ever got your answer or if I can answer your question properly. The reference to Bricks is the amount of sugar content in the plant. It is said that the higher sugar content helps control the pests and diseases. Supposedly, the insects' digestive system can not handle the sugar. So, intern they die before devouring the plant. The higher the Bricks also gives you higher nutritional value in the given crop. Hope this helped.
