I do agree with a lot of your points and placements! I would say I would have preferred OHMSS and especially FYEO much higher. Those two are literally my top two films in the franchise. I absolutely agree with the bottom placements of DAF (my least favourite movie as well) and DAD. Also love the love for both Dalton films so I agree with you there! :)

I watched this movie many timed with my dad as a kid, and I was sure she had braces. I have a vague memory of us laughing about that joke - that they both have metal in their mouth and that was their connection. This was the first example of Mandela Effect that really got to me! But I can accept the rational explanation that it just seemed to make sense in the scene so my mind just added that detail.

The John Gardner books have moments which make a lot of these look tame by comparison [including gems like Bond in Disneyland...].

I think it is one of the few credible films as the story and the tricks are kept simple. The modern reworking of Casino Royale worked for the same reason. I like FRWL, and it’s one of my favourites for the story and cast

This is the Godfather Pt III of the Bond series, and yet still not the worst (the original Casino Royale is a mess). It lacks in every department, although you saw more positives! Carrara could have been a proper Bond girl (in View to a Kill, for instance- it would have been more believable than Bond with Grace Jones!), but even she doesn’t raise this sorry film.

I love how they even had some of the cast like Q promoting the video games, that was the coolest thing ever! Good old 90s :-) they definitely don't have fun stuff like that anymore

Timothy Dalton's portrayal as Bond was the shot in the arm that the franchise needed to get back on track. While Sir Roger had his moments, Mr. Dalton got us back on track. He had Connery's charm and toughness, yet he brought a style that was all his own. Definitely my favorite Bond. I like The Living Daylights better than Licence To Kill because it felt more like a Cold War spy thriller.

Out of all the Mandela Effects, this one hit me the hardest. I would have bet money she was wearing braces. I probably mixed this up with the scene from Brady Bunch when Marcia went out with Alan and they both had braces and my brain combined the two together. Here’s a story for you. I actually wrote a story treatment for Bond 26 and I submitted to EON, and they rejected it because they hadn’t commissioned me. Sure I get that I’m still a high school student but c’mon if EON were actually still passionate they could’ve at least taken some of my ideas. Seriously if Cubby were still alive and I charge he would have jumped at the opportunity. Love your videos btw ☮️

You're extremely respectful of Fleming and his books, Dutch, as am I. I started reading Fleming at 9 right after I saw Dr. No in 1963. My dad had a James Bond novel and I found out 007 had a series of books before they became movies. To a 9-year-old, chemin de fer was lofty European cardsharping, incapable of being understood. But I quickly understood books are better than the movie.

"The Spy Who Loved Me" was the first Bond movie I saw, and it's still my favorite Bond movie. As great as Barbara Bach is, I always liked Naomi (Caroline Munro) the most. But I never noticed that she was already in the scene where Stromberg is introduced (with the two scientists). I had a crush on her when she arrived in Sardinia to pick up Bond (and Barbara Bach) and of course the wink in the helicopter scene. At 14 (in 1977), that blew me away.

It might be my french pride but the part about Michel Legrand is harsh (especially when you misprounounce his first name it's not "Michael" ^^). James Horner "better" composer is not only debatable, but Michel Legrand is not only a legend of music in France, he has ALSO an international recognition, with 3 Oscars !

Excellent list. The only one I personally disagree with is 4. To me, they started taking Bond too seriously after Quantum of Solace, and Spectre hit a low point. It even had boring moments, because it lacked that "wow-it's-a-Bond-movie" tension that you have in the earlier films which kept stuff together even when the going got weird. The thing is, Bond is a fantasy, a comic book character, or a modern day mythical figure if you will. Love and death just don't work like that in real life, but we (mostly men..) escape briefly into a fantasy world where we are allowed to pretend everything is cool and suave. Unleash too much psycho-analysis on the guy and you just miss the point, and ruin an otherwise perfectly healthy, just slightly toxic man-sperience. Anyway, my 5 unpopular opinions, in no particular order: 1. Moonraker was a fine movie, above average. There is nothing about the tacky space stuff that my suspension of disbelief can't handle. 2. Skyfall has the worst Bond-song. I know Adele can sing, but whatever she does on this under-produced mess... I mean, breathe girl, breathe! Like Bassey. Try to actually carry a melody past the first 2 notes. Of course, Die Another Day was BAD, but at least it didn't sound like a rip-off from a real bondsong. And oh yeah, why Radiohead lost out on Sam's inferior attempt in Spectre will always strike me as the biggest mistake in the franchise. 3. Dalton was the best Bond. I will gladly debate anyone who disagrees, and demolish them with objective empirical data to prove this god-given fact. 4. John Cleese does not do justice to the role of Q. Come on, show some reverence, like Whishaw. 5. Goldeneye is not as good as people think. I liked Goldeneye when it first came out. It's the first Bond movie I saw in a cinema, and it's passable. But it hasn't aged well. There are too many action scenes that feel like bad dancing routines, with lots of oohs and awhs, people overreacting to stuff or striking 'cool' poses. On re-watching, it feels like everyone is trying really hard to make a Bond movie, and it all feels a bit fake to me. Brosnan is okay, but there is no philosophy behind his Bond. Feel free to disagree!

If you go by "Popcorn Rating" averages of their movies on Rottentomatoes, which measures public approval, you see interesting groupings among the actors portraying Bond. The "Tough Guy" Bonds (Connery and Craig) average right at 75/76 approval, the "Generic Bonds" (Lazenby, Dalton) are right at 64/65, the "Sophisticated Bonds" (Moore, Brosnan) have the lowest averages, both right at 54/55.

Why does everyone put Quantum of Solace behind those completely unwatchably cheesey 80s Roger Moore Bond films? I realize Solace is confusing but Bond is at least kicking ass and not some 65 year old dude making out with 20 year old chicks

I believe Connery picked up his lifelong passion for Golf when he had to learn the basics for his scenes in Goldfinger. If you are familiar with the game, you can tell that Gert Froebe's swing in the film is that of a complete novice.

I first saw Diamonds are Forever back in Dec.1971. I was 20 at the time. It had been over 4 years since Connery played Bond and the public couldn`t wait to see him. When the gunbarrel sequence came on the screen there was thunderous applause from the audience. And when Connery said the words " my name is Bond - James Bond ", the audience cheered and applauded. I`ll never forget it. People didn`t care how good or bad the movie was. They came to see Sean Connery.
